Arsenal face Man City at the Emirates tonight and the two newest players, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have pledged to do their best to help Arsenal through some trying times.
Both are still getting used to life in North London, but have come to understand very quickly that this is a difficult period in the club’s history.
With six defeats in 2018 alone, and just four wins from the last thirteen, the Gunners need to rediscover some form as quickly as possible, but it won’t be easy against a side as good as City.
The situation, and working with Arsene Wenger, is something the two former Borussia Dortmund men touched on in an interview with Sky Sports.
“It’s not the easiest time for the club, but we are here to help, do our best, and put Arsenal on the level that it was before,” said Mkhitaryan.
“I know it’s not going to be easy, but we’re trying, and doing our best. It’s a pleasure to work with Wenger. He knows a lot about football, he can give you good advice, and I’m very happy to be here.
“Of course it’s not very easy for him either, but we have to play for the club, play for him, because he is a big role model for this team, big person at this club, so we have to do our best to show we are ready to fight for him.”
While Aubameyang added, “I think it is a difficult moment, but I think we’ve played against great teams, and I think we just have to be united, keep going, working hard and that’s the way to follow.
“He is a great manager, everyone knows it. OK, it is not an easy moment, but we have to give our best to show him that we play for him and give everything for him.”
We’ll need the two of them and nine others to be completely on their game tonight if we’re to avoid a repeat of the defeat at Wembley on Sunday.
Arsenal have announced that the game is scheduled to go ahead as planned, despite adverse weather conditions.

Wenger out!
Whoever is voting this statement down – could you sum up in a few bullet points why you don’t feel Wenger should leave? I genuinely want to try and understand what is going on here…
FFS, why do you give a toss why other people up or down?
Folks not allowed to their own opinions if they don’t match yours?
[Psst, here’s a clue: the players – world class players – just said Wenger is a great manager and the club needs to stick together in tough times. Admirable statements. You may disagree with them. But sticking together in tough times – you got a problem with that, eh. Well, not surprising.]
So enjoy both of my down votes.
Arsene Wenger has built this club in the last 20 years and the teams that we love to look back on eg. the 98 team, the invincibles etc, if it wasnt for the oil money flooding into chelski and city arsenal would still be in the mix. if you throw a billion pounds at stoke city they would be top of the league or thereabouts aswell it takes class and brains to achieve without throwing money at the damn thing, some people have stong principles and are not affected by the we want it all now culture present in this… Read more »
You really want to back a guy running the club into the ground. No thank you. Also are we to now judge manager by how much they cry when the team loses, and not by how often they lose. Oh City played us off the park, but Wenger cried at night, so its all okay. Give him a new contract already. Also remember the oil billions Leicester spent on their way to winning the league. Have Liverpool or the team from Sh!te Fart Lane, soon moving to New Sh!te Fart Lane, spent billions. How come they are suddenly doing better.… Read more »
A bit of respect, Arsene deserves that at the very least.
@gus 100% agree with you. We have got classy principles and a classy manager but the one thing I don’t think the fans deserve is the sums they have to pay to watch the club week in week out If you don’t want to spend to compete I’m fine with (I don’t own the club anyways so I can’t do anything about our investment policy) it but don’t rob the ordinary fans who turn up for matches. Don’t make false promises to them. I don’t care if oil money is disrupting the league or if the anticipated FFP turned out… Read more »
Gus, he ‘built’ the club in his first 10 years, then sustained the club for 5 years, then spent the next 6 ruining what he built
The guy was genuinely trying to talk. He didn’t say anything about freedom of opinion, maybe you have a problem with that?
Easy. They know you two are a couple of cunts.
@Mein-Bergkampf don’t bother mate, it’s easier to ignore them, if you try logic with them they will get under your skin & make you more frustrated than before..honestly i don’t think they are emotionally invested in the club as some of us, that’s why they don’t mind the current state of the team..it doesn’t bother them And to be honest..I’m staring to hate this blog because of those who illogically & unconditionally defend Wenger, & they are a lot, they just make my frustration with the team even more when i stumble upon their illogical opinions Side note: anyone entitled… Read more »
You can also just disagree with someone’s opinion and move on with your day rather than get so upset by it.
I don’t see a lot of unconditional support for Arsene Wenger on here at all.
Did you read the comments above mine, the one by @gus for example..
Anyway from now on i’m here for the news (thanks for your effort blogs), no more comments and debates..those are poisonous to my beloved comfort
Adios
I didn’t read it! Just generally I think there are more people actively looking for change than anything else
It’s not showing in your blog, the great number of downvotes for the 1st comment by @Paulo-Cuntchops tells you that change is not favorable here, unless your blog is infested with trolls lol
Maybe it’s the way the sentiment is expressed rather than the sentiment itself. Anyway, it’s no big deal. A variety of opinion is good.
much as we all agree ‘wenger out’, its purely on the best interest of the club, that wenger agrees, that said huge , we have huge respect for the greatest manager of Arsenal Fc
Bingo. In my case, anyway.
I think Paulo was being sarcastic anyway Haha…
Bergkampf, now I’ve voted you down. Bullet point reasons:
1. You’re playing the man, not the ball.
2. False assumption voting Paulo’s post down means the person wants Wenger to stay. It’s neither a direct correlation by any means nor a binary equation. I voted it down, but definitely think Wenger’s time is up. But not for Brendan Rodgers it’s not. So there you go.
3. The pomposity of expecting people to explain themselves to you.
4. I suspect you don’t actually genuinely want to understand. You want to debate. That’s fair enough, but let’s call it what it is.
So… what about this weather we’ve been having…
Ay, now that’s a funny turn. I dig it.
@Mein Bergkampf
… some people just want to watch the world burn
Well he managed to keep us there or thereabouts on a shoestring budget until a couple of years back. City have spent a lot more money than we have and United demonstrate that even spending money is not a guarantee of success. Pep didn’t win anything last season. Mourinho doesn’t look likely to win anything this season yet people don’t seem to be on his back like they are with Wenger. At times they’ve looked pretty awful too. So have Chelsea. Would Pochettino be doing as well if he didn’t have Kane, Dembele etc. Is he going to win anything?… Read more »
@Anonymarse
Agree with you. If you analyze carefully everything went downhill whenever Santi got injured. He’s been THE guy since Cesc fucked off. It’s not a coincidence that we finished outside the top 4 after Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini left us. We are missing some real leaders on the pitch. Wengerball works perfectly well when everybody is fit especially with Santi.
Having said that i do think Wenger’s time is coming to an end. I just hope he goes soon and he goes out on a high.
Just because I voted this down does not mean I don’t want/think Wenger should leave.
Can you explain why you voted up a comment that actually brought nothing to the debate?
I haven’t voted at all in this but I’ll anyway explain my own disposition for the second time: I (personally) feel that Le Prof should be sacked/allowed to leave ONLY IF we are able to get one of Leonardo Jardim, Massimiliano Allegri or Diego Simeone. If none of those 3, then Carlo Ancelotti as an interim manager for next season IF possible.
Welcome to Arsenal boys, you didn’t do your homework then?
Ever been to game lads??
Limparrr are you repeatedly asking this ungrammatical question because your mum took you to your first game recently? 🙂
From the guy who posted the other day everyone should boycott.
Despite the recent poor form, I’m always fired up for a game on the day. COYG
I like this !! COYG
Sadly, I’ve lost faith over the years. We never replaced the great spine of players who left us like Viera, Henry and big sol. The constant Groundhog Day that’s been the past ten seasons has been hard to swallow. We have never moved forward and have stayed static, if anything we’ve been on the decline. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a whooping this eve. That’s a sad place to be as a proud Gooner. The truly sad part is we have at least a year and a half of the same BS and no guarantee that we will… Read more »
You could argue that is a lot harder now because everybody is trying to sign those kind of players when they are 16-18
What’s the closest to a Viera or Henry these days? Pogba? Mbappe?
We did just sign Aubameyang
The two latest recruits who’ve spent the least amount of time here are the one’s vocal of their sport. Would like to hear what the players who’ve been around this the longest think. I mean, we already know what Bellerin thinks, thanks to that call leak. I’m also not going to put much on the whole “they came for Wenger” talk. No offence, but Aubem was ready to go to China last year and Mikhi got pushed out. I don’t blame either, particularly Augbem. Not sure why anyone thought spending £60m on a striker where the team struggles to create… Read more »
An orange ball will clash with cech
Only if it wears a helmet!
Players are so well media trained these days, you can’t really put too much weight into what they say. Personally, I think actions speak louder than words.
Auba was hyped up way too much, and he hasn’t done anything exciting yet except for when he was roasted for pace by Kompany.
Nobody’s played him into the fucking game enough. Nobody can score the goals up top if the 10 behind him are doing a useless job and not getting him the ball enough.
Lads, is there really a point in arguing with each other here? We surely all want the same thing, which is for Arsenal to start winning games again. I think Arsene is a gentleman and his career is only one we can admire. However,In my opinion Arsene a shadow of the coach he used to be, he is bristly and anxious at games, our tactical decisions and formation are reactionary and we have seen a swaith of players leave in order to progress in recent years. Last year was a perfect time for him to leave, we struggled in the… Read more »
I just want to see some fucking energy and drive. Play like it means something, even if it doesn’t. That’s what we’re here to see. There’s been none of it.
If I were ever to lose interest it would be because of that.
every body wants us to be United !!! They can fuck off if they think im supporting that shit !!
Are you jokingly talking about Man “United” leavemyarselona? I will retract my down vote if you are?
May snow help us!
Is it worrying they are already buying into the doom and gloom?
You want service? I can’t think of any better service than a penalty for Aubameyang to dispatch. Still think we had a great January transfer window? We are so lacking in pace and invention out wide. The fullbacks have to come up to make the difference. See City where Sane and Bernardo Silva stretched us. Sane was able to take on two or three of our players at a go. We should have signed Mahrez. Poor decisions by club and lack of balance, little options for even a plan B with Welbeck clattering around. Could have kept Giroud but who… Read more »
