Cech and Aubameyang on the 3-0 win over Watford, and that penalty save

Petr Cech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang spoke to Sky Sports after Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Watford today.

Here’s what they had to say.

On a big day for Cech and a step forward for the team

Well when you are in a difficult moment and results are not going well you have to look at yourself and find the way out. Obviously we had a big result in midweek in Milan and we carried this determination into today.

We played against a good side who are in good form as well, and it’s not as easy as the score says because we scored goals at the right moments.

Another goal for Aubameyang, is form returning slowly?

Yes, it’s starting to come. Today was a great team effort, the confidence is back and for me as well. I’m feeling better. I have to say thanks to my teammates.

Has it been tough? A new league at a difficult time for the club etc.

Of course. It’s not always easy to come into a new team, and ok it’s a difficult moment for the club and now we’re back on form. That’s good for us.

Two landmarks for Petr – a first penalty save. Was there extra edge because it was Troy Deeney?

No, he scored when we played the first game over there. He surprised me that day shooting the way he did, today you just go with what you feel. I felt that today was going to be the right moment.

I think my timing was quite good too. Sometimes you do the right thing, this time it all clicked. The only thing is that when he shot he hit it very hard and I didn’t know where the ball went. I saw it coming across so I was glad nobody tapped it in.

And the 200th clean sheet …

It’s an unbelievable personal milestone obviously. We’ve been waiting 11 games, which is sometimes frustrating, but the most important is that the team wins and during that stretch the team didn’t win so that was the most difficult thing.

You need to carry on. I always believed in the work I was doing and that one day it was going to turn.

Wenger’s face when they asked him about Deeney’s comments! Ahhh sooo close to losing his composure and yelling NO CAJONES!!

Mein Bergkampf

Off topic but I’d love to see Nelson taking Iwobi’s place on the left of the front four. I just really think he’s struggling for form and was poor again today. With three top, top professionals around him, Reiss could really make his play for first team football.

One Dennis Bergkamp

Cajones means drawers lol.

Random Witness

Much needed win! Bring on the Rossoneri!

Pedant

Let’s hope that sets us up for the run-in, especially the Europa League.

A Mother of a Day on Mother’s Day.

Bournemouth 1 nil up v Sp*rs after 20 minutes.

Too much to hope for a Bournemouth win as well?

Twatsloch

Come on Bournemouth!

PeteyB

Sadly so.
I trust you realise that by posting this comment you are ultimately responsible but the Spuds victory.

Shame on you.

PersonFace

Cech mate Deeney, Cech mate.

Chippy87

I guess Troy lacked the cajones to put that pen away.

Congrats to Petr!

Enjoying this mini run.

What I enjoy most is the fact that after a long hard season, one of those four cunts above us in the league will join us in Europa.

They don’t know it yet and that will be some disappointment. At least we’ve made our peace with that.

Better still as we have one foot in the quarter finals, …….

Sandman

Eh? I’m looking at us winning Europa and hence it’ll be the UCL next season.

Oh and a slight change to what The Gent said: hope Chelsea FC 2003 finish in the top 4 while we win the Europa. So that you, I and everyone else can bathe in Sp*RS bum’s never ending tears of sorrow. ?

Jean Ralphio

Happy for Xhaka who has been arguably our most consistent player for the last few games. The reverse fixture against Watford destroyed his form.

Donald\'s Trump

2 games! Love how arsenal fans get carried away.

Gereoma

Xhaka, is bang average. Can he make Spur’s midfield? What consistency are you talking about.

Yellow Ribbon

Aubameyang looks like he is getting to his best. The sad thing is he doesn’t get to play in the Europa League.

Gereoma

Auba, only has one route to scoring; that’s by breaking off. He has to improve on his physicality like vardy and his overall predatorial instinct. At least he can position himself which Laca cannot. Laca, is another bang average striker. Deschaump is right in his preferring Giroud.

Grumbleduke

Loved seeing Lehman laughing his arse off when deeney missed

Donald\'s Trump

Ha troy Deeney you fucking mug

shokim

Glad our Cech finally got that Arsenal penalty save hoodoo out of the way, and congrats on the milestone 200th clean sheet.

Gereoma

Cech is my man! Give him a better defence and he’ll perform much more. Ospina is not Arsenal’s quality.

Gordy

It was great when the players ran to Cech after the penalty. He made other good saves too; why on earth should the second best goalkeeper be played in the most important matches now I can’t imagine and so many empty seats today. For God’s sake we’ve paid for them and we have thousands of supporters who would love to be there.

Gereoma

I’ll only allow this celebration of beating lowly Watford as far as it lifts the ‘pervading gloom’ and gives us back our cojones. I just want Arsenal to get back their DNA of winning; perform to conviction even if we lose a times. Every player’s performance must be reviewed by Wenger from now on. Auba must be told, to continue playing he is expected to score almost in every game. I suggested Chambers should be sold, may be a little harsh. But he has to show he is improving as he showed in this match. Bellerin must be threatened with… Read more »
