Arsenal U18s played Colchester United last night in the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup, and came out 5-1 winners on the night.
The young Gunners are now into the semi-finals where they’ll face Blackpool. It was a convincing win, with two goals from the very highly rated Emile Smith Rowe, the second of which was a superb free kick which was about as unstoppable as a free kick can be.
He curled it right into the top corner with the keeper helpless, and with not much to cheer about at the moment in general, check it out below to brighten up your day.
There really is a large amount of movement on the ball, and you may have seen another goal this season that reminded you of it. Again it was from youth level, and again it was Rowe Smith who made the ball curl in an almost unbelievable way during a game against Liverpool.

I know that none of us want to over-hype a young player, but it’s clear that he is the answer to all our problems and should be in the first team immediately.
As captain. And player-manager.
In seriousness though, he is edging towards first team involvement as this story from our youth correspondent Jeorge Bird outlines.
Get them all up in the first team, now.
They can’t do worse.
Want to bet on it?
Sorry, lol jks. Thought it was obviously not serious.
There seems to be a lot of hype developing around this young man. I know Jeorge has done a few articles identifying him as an exciting prospect, but if Blogs is also doing it, surely there must be something here…..This, for some reason reminds me of the hype surrounding the young Fabregas who of course went on to become what was my most fave arsenal player and youngest first team captain (before he turned coat of course)…could we perhaps have unearthed the ‘new Fabregas’?
this time, thank heavens, with an Arsenal DNA
we’ve seen so many come and go on the hype train that we should only believe once they start producing in the first team.. we haven’t had one of those purely from our acadamy, for as long as i could remember. A broken Jack is probably the only fruit of our academy, rest were pinched from here and there, like big clubs USE to pinch our young established players.
I’m assuming this has been down-voted because Fabregas is mentioned twice? Otherwise it’s quite harsh.
Smith-Rowe turned down Barca didn’t he? Sure i read something in the last year or so that he couldv’e gone there.
Maybe there is a bright light at the end of this dark tunnel we are presently going through.
Exciting stuff, finally someone with a hyphenated name, needed one since Ox left.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles?
Jeff Reine-Adelaide
Jordi Osei-Tutu
I’m going to pretend I meant we were one short since Ox left, rather than admit I completely forgot all of those.
Bend it like Rowe!
The boy looks a bit special
He does look like he has something about him. Let’s hope he gets inspired by the new Manager we (should/will) have in the Summer.
“As captain. And player-manager.”
The player-manager seems to be the most pressing need, while I want Wenger to leave on his own terms at the end of this season.
So, in the meanwhile can he play in any of the defensive position – DM, CB or GK haha.
Our situation has become so bad, it’s best laugh at ourselves and hope for dramatic changes in the post season. Both in terms of management and squad.
Smith-Rowe the new Nelson, who’s still the new Chris Willock….who was once the new Gnabry….who was gearing up to be the new Ox.
Ironically all were left to get to 1 year of their contracts.
Wenger got slated for talking up the kids the other day, but they’re hardly shit. Let’s hope they make the step up like the crop in the late 80’s did, we’re due something to believe in.
that’s a great goal… no over hyping please for the player… let him develop
Lovely curl on that ball indeed
Glad Arsenal has won something even if it’s a youth fixture. I’ll take anything right now!
Bloody Hell!
