Arsene Wenger spoke after last night’s win about our potential opponents, saying, “Maybe the team who is the biggest favourite is Atletico Madrid, but anyway, what I like doesn’t matter too much because I have no influence on it.
“We have to wait for tomorrow and see who we get. If we get Atletico Madrid, we get Atletico Madrid. We have now some time to recover and prepare for it.”

* after all the tedious crap that comes before it
Hopefully Atleti. Better take them on now than later. Would help the atmosphere around the stadium for the remainder of games if we managed to knock them out now.
Can’t agree with that. Feel like we have a better chance in a one off game then over two legs.
I am not sure if that is necessarily true. I think that we have the ability to beat them and that may be more likely over two legs, I think I would just rather play them in the semis as we seem to be gathering a bit of momentum at the moment and will have more players back by then.
Let’s hope Atleti draw CSKA and we draw Marseille. Lazio draw Leipzig and Lisbon draw Salzburg.
Marseille played well against Bilbao with Payet on form. His dribbling can cause Arsenal defence problems.
I wouldn’t mind Leipzig or Lisbon
I agree. Sure a lot of fans would want Salzburg or someone, but Europa League won’t be judged on how deep Arsenal go into the tournament. Even a runners up is not good enough.
So its best to face Atleti and get rid of them for its clear at some point Arsenal will have to defeat them in the tournament.
Unless they get knocked out by one of the easier teams in the next round by sheer luck….
Ala Borussia Dortmund
Lets play some one new, would be refreshing to see us competing against the likes of Leipzig, Salzburg or Atleti
Just give us someone we can beat comfortably
I prefer we play Atleti now than Final
We are going to Moscow.
There. I had said it.
I feel we can beat anyone in a one off game I really do – so if we can avoid Madrid ’til the final (if we get there) that would be ideal. Would be nice if Madrid and one of the other decent sides drew each other to be fair.
Do not fancy Moscow one bit either. Fuck that
Out of all of them I’d be happiest with Lisbon
It’s gonna be Bayern
I wonder if all the other teams are thinking “not arsenal, not arsenal!”
After Ostersund, no. After Milan most of them, barring maybe Atleti
True. Lacazette will be back in time for the next match.
That raises our level of talent considerably. The idea of a European cup run is getting me excited about arsenal again after so long!
As an Austrian I would love to play Salzburg! I would only have a three hour ride by car to the away match.
So, none of those teams have ever beaten Arsenal. May it continue for this season, at least.
Cska
Right you are sir
All are worthy opponents. I would avoid CSKA and Leipzig, two very good teams which our players would be prone (more or less consciously) to underestimate.
Anything but CSKA please.
True.
Not another final against Spanish opposition please.
We’re going to have to defend better than we did yesterday if we’re going to win this. Give Diego Costa or Werner the chances Milan has yesterday and they’d probably score. We looked more solid with Chambers at RB.
definetely hope atletico get cska, 2 teams to avoid , I remember that marseille game so clearly, 90 minutes of just nothing at all happening, and that ramsey goal right at the end
