Gedion Zelalem says he’s aiming to return to the playing field in the summer having sustained a setback in his recovery from ACL surgery.
The 21-year-old suffered knee ligament damage playing for the United States at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea back in May and had been hoping for a return around about now.
Taking to Instagram, Zelalem confirmed: “After a setback in January, I will now be back playing in pre season.
“Progress has been very good past couple months and already stronger than I’ve ever been. Next season will be very exciting for me.”
Zelalem spent the second half of last season on loan in the Dutch second division helping VVV-Venlo to the title and promotion. We think he’s under contract at the Emirates until June 2019 so he’s still got a bit of time to kick-start his Gunners career.
All the best to Gedion on his recovery, we hope to see up and running again soon.
The other guy in the picture. What is that thing coming out of his ear???
It’s his cramblewomper. I thought everyone had one.
Bout to ask that myself. Is this pic from The Omen??
Thought he was the next Fabregas at one point, though he wasn’t that great loaned to Rangers.
Would be great if he could do it, but I’m not very hopeful he will.
I wrote off his chances of making it at Arsenal a long time ago. Shame, because he looked so promising at one point. Good luck to him either way.
He’s very much akin to what we produce (nab from other clubs) a lot of at the academy and also have similar in the team already. He’s just not as good. Ship him on. Thanks for the…. erm… memories
Wenger out please.
Cheddar has never been one of my favorite types of cheese, but I’ve been eating a lot of it recently, and I’m really starting to like it now. What’s your favorite cheese?
At that age, he’ll naturally be adding mass to his frame as he physically matures. I would not be surprised if he is a lot stronger than the wisp of a player we last saw in action. His problem is that at 21 he has already missed an awful lot of game minutes. We will see. He probably won’t make the Arsenal squad but we have been surprised before in both directions.
Or he could eat and lift weights but that doesn’t seem to be on the Arsenal menu
Why would he want to eat weights?
He has actually bulked up a bit as evidenced in that first pic above. Had a much slender frame a while back. I am routing for him to come back and stake a claim in our ever revolving midfield. He is a natural and just needs some consistent game time. A season devoid of injuries would do him good. We right him off and he would surely go blow up in another team. How that would hurt.
The ball is in your court, Son. You will succeed.
Thanks dad
Like a new signing…
I fell sorry for him as he certainly has talent but this ACL injury has kept him from the team during the very year that he would have got some 1st team game time in the cup squad at the very least. He really need to step up next season if he has any chance of making it in the Pl.
How is Cohen Bramall doing?
