Arsene Wenger says he’ll certainly continue to work when he leaves Arsenal but he’s not yet made up his mind whether he’ll take a break when he steps down at the Emirates.
Former assistant Pat Rice and ex-Arsenal CEO David Dein, the man who brought Wenger to Arsenal, have both given interviews in recent days claiming the Frenchman will be very much in demand this summer.
Wenger himself has hinted in the past that the Gunners might not be his final chapter in management and it sounds as if he’s sticking by that.
“They will find my phone number, don’t worry,” he quipped when asked if Dein had forwarded messages from potential suitors.
“Honestly, I don’t know what I will do. Will I take a little rest? I will continue to work, that’s for sure.
“My pride has always been to give my best to where I’m employed until the last day of my contract. At the moment, I’m just focused on that.”
Asked if interested parties would be wasting their time getting in touch now, Wenger went on: “At the moment, yes. At the moment I’m not ready to commit to anything else other than giving my best to Arsenal Football Club.”
Wenger went on to say that he was not in control of the timing of his exit announcement.
Got that bizarre feeling of when you break up with someone but still fear them hooking up with someone else. Can’t wait for the Burnley game to show We Went the love is still there, despite this being for the best.
I think if he continued managing in the Prem for one of the top 6, something wouldn’t sit right.
Now if he managed Real or let’s say Barca, I would start supporting them in heartbeat…
As well as Arsenal of course 🙂
He will be in demand, interesting to see where he goes.
I’m willing to bet it won’t be Sp*rs.
I never expected George Graham to manage them either…
Getting more and more apparent that he’s been politely asked to leave.
Don’t think he has a position open upstairs especially not while Ivan is still here. FA loves him, should go for national team setup, may be England’s after their customary collapse in another international tournament.
Players have let him down and to boot they don’t want to recognize this. The two most thoughtful of them , Kos and Per spoke. Kos said he didn’t know who of the manager or them should be blamed, Per said not enough time has passed to conclude they are to be blamed. I have seen schoolboy errors every single game. These guys must be kidding us.
Its going to be mega lols when he wins the Champions League with Barcelona
No Lols. I for one would be happy for him, as he deserves it and would want nothing less.
Doesn’t change the fact that it’s the right time for us to part ways.
talk of him becoming the PSG president really would be a perfect role for him. I’m not sure he’s going to have a lot of great club management options and with his experience and contacts he would really be a perfect fit for a club president role. otherwise maybe the French national team as they are extremely talented and he knows most of those players already
He is intelligent enough to decide what to do after this assignment. Many teams are smart enough to grab the opportunity to utilize his services.
If Ranieri can find work… let’s not insult the boss. He can definitely find a managerial position. Maybe he’s actually interested in working with a smaller club. Let’s him go back to doing what he does best.
Honestly, I would be surprised if he achieved any success with another club.
Arsenal is by far the most stable environment in England. Such stability, love from fans, more than an understanding board with full support , and yet disappointments all over.
He should look for a director position some where.
