Arsenal have signed young Sunderland striker Sam Greenwood.
The 16 year old put pen to paper today on a scholarship deal, and will sign professional terms when he turns 17 in January next year.
Although the club haven’t yet announced the arrival of the highly rated youngster, Greenwood made it public via his Instagram, with a message:
“Today is the start of a new chapter in my life signing for Arsenal and I can’t wait to get started. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead. Leaving Sunderland after 10 years the club I love and support was a very hard decision.
“I have met some special people along the way ,big thanks to Sunderland and all coaches past and present for everything they have done for me.
“I will never forget my roots.”
Greenwood is considered a very bright prospect and has been capped at England youth level. Moving to a club with the profile of Arsenal won’t do his chances any harm in that regard.

These articles are news on Arsenal players. This is why I come to this site on a daily basis, for years, for insightful information on Arsenal. Not sure what the age has to do with anything, check Arsenals youngest scorer, a Cesc Fabregas at…..16. This guy is at school, the Arsenal school of how to be a fucking great striker. Jeez. I think we’ve lost sight here. This is a kid. What are we doing here? How much Arsenal Information do you need- a 16 year old kid joining? Fabregas is 1 data point. I wonder what happens to these 16 year olds who don’t “make it”. Are they getting an education? Do we have any data on that?
