Unai Emery is planning to take a strong squad to Boreham Wood on Saturday as he takes charge of his first game as head coach at Arsenal.
The club had originally suggested the match would feature an Arsenal XI – code for youth prospects and fringe players – but with so many of the first team squad already back in pre-season training it looks as though we’re going to give a run out to big names.
Aside from the 10 players who’ve been at the World Cup – Mesut Ozil, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Granit Xhaka, David Ospina, Mohamed Elneny, Joel Campbell, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck and new boy Lucas Torreira – pretty much everyone has done at least a few days at London Colney.
As such, the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey are all expected to feature as Emery checks out his options ahead of higher-profile friendlies with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint Germain in Singapore.
We also had it confirmed earlier that Arsenal’s game with Sevilla in Stockholm will go ahead despite earlier doubts about a fixture clash for the Spanish side.
The club have advised that a limited number of tickets are still available for the match. For more details, see here.
Who is the tall guy between Holding and Kolasinac?
Matt Macey
Matt Macey – GK
He’s so tall.. damn it!!??
good height for a keeper. hope he does well!
Guess we can no longer say GK and emergency right back, now that Wenger isn’t in charge.
Yet again Monreal was left out of the WC players, is this some kind of inside joke?
I was wondering who the tenth player was!
Leno
Bellerin Mustafi Sokratis Kolasinac
Maitland-Niles Ramsey Mkhitaryan
L Perez Lacazette Aubameyang
whitewash them lads ??
Interesting. I suppose the players need as many games a possible to get used to whatever the new system is, still a bit of a shame for the fringe players who would usually use this game as a shop window. Wouldn’t be surprised to see two completely different sides for each half.
Chambers ?
