What next for Dasilva after new Arsenal deal?

While Vlad Dragomir’s future remains uncertain, Arsenal appear to have persuaded another talented young midfielder to commit himself to the club in Josh Dasilva.

Dasilva deliberated over signing a new contract with the Gunners but was in attendance in training with the U23 squad this week and seems set to remain with Arsenal for this season at least.

If, as expected, he stays at Arsenal, it will be intriguing to see what lies ahead for the 19-year-old in the new season.

Last campaign was a significant one for Dasilva as, after years of hard work at youth level, he finally became more involved with the first-team, featuring in three EFL Cup fixtures.

Dasilva’s progression at Arsenal has certainly been interesting as he has gone from a striker to a midfielder and has also demonstrated that he can make an impact as a left-back.

Possessing much in the way of power and flair, Dasilva seems ready for a loan spell and that would perhaps be the best option as if he was to remain at Arsenal it is difficult to envisage him receiving much game time.

Arsenal’s involvement in the Checkatrade Trophy would at least provide Dasilva with a chance to play competitive football of some sort, but he is at the stage in his development where he requires regular games.

At an English club in the lower divisions it can often be difficult for Arsenal youngsters to impose themselves, but Dasilva’s versatility would make him a useful asset to any club if he was to leave on temporary transfer.

Joe Willock is currently ahead of Dasilva in the pecking order at Arsenal, and the latter knows that it is now up to himself to prove his credentials and improve his chances of eventually making the breakthrough.

The fact that Dasilva hasn’t been involved in first-team training so far during pre-season suggests that there is still work to be done in order for him to get further opportunities and spending time away from Arsenal on a temporary basis this season may help him to get closer to succeeding.

Wasn’t Dragomir released? What’s the confusion on that part?

Martin

He was offered a new contract but declined it. However he seemed to have second thoughts and his agent was seemingly negotiating. However haven’t heard anything further

Alex

Monaco is on him free.

Rich

Ornstein saying that Torreira signing is imminent, everything agreed and just medical left, and that’ll be it for first team signings, but we might sign a youngster.
Leno £18mill
Liechtenstein Free
Sokratis £16mill
Torreira £26mill
£60mill and I’d imagine we’d get £10mill for Perez+Ospina which puts us at the £50mill reported.
A very efficient and functional summer, no more and no less.

Anonymarse

Saw this, but now Sky are reporting we are in talks to sign Nzonzi

Merlin's Panini

Yeah. But it’s Sky…

Anonymarse

Sky are one of the more reliable sources

Uhtred

Arseblog is the reliable source

Rich

Me and my mate have discussed this in detail and the most reliable sauce is Heinz Tomato Ketchup, due to its versatility.
Honourable mentions also go out to HP sauce, Helmans Mayo, Franks Hot Sauce, South West sauce, Ranch Sauce, Blue Cheese Sauce, Worcester Sauce, Nando’s Peronaise (Hot)
And I’d also recommend mixing Vinegar in with your Heinz Tomato Ketchup.
Football Mole, The Plug, Chris Mularr or any other ITK are fake just fake sauces

Gunrunnerz1886

I wouldn’t trust Sky, they just want to promote their betting site. But on the other hand, Ornstein only reports on news that is already public knowledge.

Anonymarse

Efficient and functional is probably what we needed tbh

Rich

Efficient and functional certainly isn’t a criticism ?
We had a plan and executed it.
Can’t wait to see how Emery puts the pieces of the puzzle together, I really hope he goes for functional rather than playing players out of position.
Or even better…. he has a way to get our biggest talents playing together without losing balance and organisation.

Red-Sky

Bad news to me. A winger is very much needed and I don’t understand why we’re not after one. We are losing many tactical options by not having proper player playing in the wide!

D ceee

That signing might depend on what we do with Welbz. If he moves on then I can see a winger being brought in

Bois

And to imagine we have a player on the books who did and still capable of doing brilliant as a winger….. Joel Campbell!!!

Faisal Narrage

Only hope is that the likes of Nelson and The Jeff are given a chance to stake their claim.

And I’m all for it.

Kwame Ampadu Down

10m for Perez & Ospina is very optimistic..

D ceee

Why? Seems low to me

forest gooner

wbu welbeck…I think we will sell him also

Alex

If we could extend Nelson and Dasilva and sign Gelson Martins that was great.

DontForget

Loving all the Jeorge Bird articles lately. Thanks for keeping us abreast of all that’s going on in the youth ranks.

Hulk

We need to send our players to clubs that can continue to further their football education. Holland, Belgium, France have been known for developing talent, let’s use that

Not many loans to lower league clubs in England have worked out.

FrenchMan

I’m sure Angers L1 would be happy to have more young talents in loan after Jeff.

Faisal Narrage

“At an English club in the lower divisions…”

No more English loans please. Only one that’s worked of recent years is AMN. Send him abroad. Germany, Belgium, France, etc.

Also, I wouldn’t consider Willock a dead cert. I know he was ahead under Wenger as he’s a Wenger-type of CM, but may not be the case with Emery.
