Guendouzi starts again, Iwobi comes in: Chelsea v Arsenal teams

Arsenal take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening with Unai Emery looking for his first points as the new boss.

He’s made a couple of changes from the side that lost on the opening day to Man City, with the inclusion of £26m signing Lucas Torreira the main one.

Here are the official line-ups.

Subs: Caballero, Christensen, Zappacosta, Hazard, Kovacic, Moses, Giroud

Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis, Monreal, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Iwobi, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang

Subs: Leno, Lichtsteiner, Elneny, Torreira, Ramsey, Lacazette, Welbeck

no lacazette or torreira seems very naive but what the hell do i know!

Pedant

I’d rather have most of the bench playing. Let’s hope I’m wrong.

db10

You got sth. wrong, your lineup doesn’t include Torreira

Jydoe

I hope I’m wrong but this lineup doesn’t look convincing to do the job at all

Paul

Torreira not even on the bench?

my name is bob

Torreira on the bench, no Holding

Mayor McCheese

You have to understand that blogs deliberately makes one mistake in every pre-match team news report.

Aubazette

If we end up losing deservedly then Emery will get hella stick tbh!

Greg

Rightly so. He’s owed a performance from a few of those included

Bosscielny

Blogs you might wanna change the initial part. Torreira not in the lineup.

Paul

Blogs you may want to delete and start again with less haste…:-)

Mayor McCheese

Chill, guys. It’s proper bantz!!!!!

Jorin

Oh well. Having Xhaka in there, having Torreira and Laca out is not making me feel confident. Please prove me wrong! COYG.

my name is bob

Looks like Emery is setting up the team to be very tight while keeping Ozil in his favored number 10 position, although I don’t understand putting in Xhaka over Torreira…
But what do I know, I’m not the manager.
COYG

Paul

Torreira IS on the bench.

Shambles

Can someone please inform emery that preseason is over?

Arseman

Blogs did you mean exclusion of Torreira?

Gooner

The Arsenal site ours Torreira on the bench. You may want to change that

Jack

99% of Arsenal fans wanted Xhaka benched for this one

Rich

I’m part of the 1% ??
It’s a brave lineup, will be interesting to see if Iwobi or Ozil play centrally
Is Rambo carrying a knock?

LondonN5

99% wanted him gone in the summer…

Paul

Only 40% right now. 🙂

Man Manny

What is going on? No Torreira? So much for “being ready to start games.”

Why not

No Rambo is surely the biggest surprise?

Only 1 defender on the bench.

gooner

Considering we looked much better when he came off it’s no big surprise.

Note. I didn’t say Ramsey is shit. Thank you

Madrid Gooner

Blogs there’s a mistake there. Torreira’s on the bench instead of Holding

MeSoHornsey

I can practically hear the collective groans from arsenal fans through the airwaves.

Oh well, a few of these players are playing for their futures in this match, let that be the positive out of this.

LondonN5

Oh well.
Another season about to bite the dust….

Bosscielny

That’s the spirit.

KongoKim

hahaha so funny. how many sampdoria games did u guys watch last season ?! emery said in the press conference torreira getting slowly into it, language barriere, tactial instructions etc. yet all the arsenal fans know for sure that he has to start.

Making Arsenal Great Again

Xhaka was yanked after 45 minutes. So what’s your point again? It doesn’t matter how many Sampdoria games we watched. We’ve watched Xhaka for 2 seasons straight and would rather take our chances with a Torreira who is still getting his bearings than Xhaka. Xhaka was abjectly poor today

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

Xhaka. Seriously? We are a 10 man team with him playing. He would never get in any of the sides in the top 6. I’m sure Kante is quaking in his boots.

Man Manny

What is going on? No Torreira? So much for “being ready to start games.”
On second thoughts, may be he’s injured.

Lord Bendnter

What’s going on??

Alwaysagooner

I like this 🙂 He’s trying stuff out!

Teryima Adi

Bring down the Bridge you Red Army. Cannons out and blazing.

Ash

I am glad that Gendouzi kept his place, I think he did enough to deserve it. I am surprised that Xhaka and Torreria were not swapped out as I dont think Xhaka made any case to keep his spot.

I hope Ozil will be playing as a number 10 with iwobi out wide, might offer some more protection on the flanks where we were over run last week.

Interested to see how it goes. I think it is a pretty interesting team and you never know. COME ON YOU GUNNERS

No Longer Laughing Stock

I’d love to know how Miki and Xhaka kept their place but I guess panicking after one game isn’t really the way to go?

Thierry bergkamp

Not impressed at all

Ricardo

Just like in his first interview in English, Emery’s got balls to start with this line-up in midfield.

No Lichtsteinter either.

Hantal

I’d have liked to have seen more changes- bellerin, cech and ozil should have made way at least.
If we’re going to experiment do it properly

GunneRon

If this had been Wenger picking this team I would have moaned. But because it’s Emery, you just know he would not be naive enough to go in there without a game plan. The same players they may be, but this team is a different breed under Emery. So let’s hope it is a master stroke. COYG !

Sweet Lou

I like Mkhitaryan quite a bit, but I’m not sure that he merits a start after last week. He also doesn’t offer a whole lot of cover for Bellerin to deal with Hazard

Sweet Lou

Pedro or William**

Bonny

Is this not sacrificing 2nd Match alread? Not a convincing line up

Ozilrightfoot

Wenger is it you in disguise?

Making Arsenal Great Again

Unai Emery is going to burn through any support and patience Arsenal fans currently have for this new era if he keeps playing Xhaka and keeping Lacazette on the bench

Paul

“He’s made a couple of changes from the side that lost on the opening day to Man City, with the inclusion of £26m signing Lucas Torreira the main one.” could do with a fix too Blogs.

Billy Bob

Oh dear, playing players that really don’t deserve it – ozil and Miki for starters

Maxmud Hillowle

Incompetent Bellerin costed us in this match. To say the least the dude doesn’t deserve to be in Arsenal’s squad. Pathetic Hector?
