If we lose this game with Xhaka in the line up, you can put me in the solid EmeryOut column. I can live with losing with the new players we brought in the summer. I can’t understand losing with players we already know are not good enough. Where is the ruthlessness?
How do we know that he’s not good enough? He’s had good performances for us and bad. Right now with a new coach there may be more of the former. A new coach is meant to get more from the players, that’s the general expectation.
Considering Xhaka has been playing a role that doesn’t suit him I think he has done very well and was our most improved player last season. I am hoping now we have a genuine DM we will see Xhaka at his best playing as well as he does for Switzerland as a deep lying midfielder
Granit is better than many like to think. Most of these critics merely look out for fault in particular players and amplify it. Torreira also got dispossesd (if not more) when he was on in second half. The same Granit critics will be up in arms over his yellow card at the half way line but turn a blind eye to Torreira giving away a free kick on the edge of our box. If it were Viera getting a yellow, it would be deemed as getting stuck in or taking one for the team. If it were Granit, it would… Read more »
Well said. Truth is we have to have faith in the coach and the players and what will be will be. We have to expect the unexpected which includes players we like playing badly and players who are scapegoats playing well. Sensible fans hopefully just support the team, but that doesn’t seem very fashionable in this era of instant media meltdowns.
I think some players (Such as Xhaka and Elneny) will feature more prominently in the Europa or FA and League cup matches. Not everyone is a PL First team starter, and sometimes the fact that we have loads of games to play this season in various competitions gets overlooked.
That’s absolutely daft to be going toxic after two matches. Down with that sort of thing. Down with anything even remotely related to a trumpism. Now filed neatly in my ‘skip reading comment’ column. If your name is a hint to an aim of trolling ala Putin’s pawns to stir discontent, please do move along. If you actually believe that, well, sheesh. Perhaps keep it to yourself until there is a bit more that TWO MATCHES to go on. One of them against last season’s walk away champions. Why don’t you accept that Torreira and Xhaka are completely different players and both should play. Torreira as the DM and Xhaka as a deep lying midfielder?
I think Emery is correct to start with just one striker. Lets not guarantee both strikers a starting berth. One of them has been far too casual. Secondly we need to be cautious. There are clearly still issues with getting the balance right for us so 2 in midfield would suit us better at this stage. Also as I have mentioned, Torreira isn’t entirely up to pace of the PL and got caught in possession, gave away a free kick on edge of box, could have done better for our third goal A combination of either Granit-Guendouzi or Granit- Torreira… Read more »

As I have been saying as well, there is nothing fundamentally new with what Emery is doing tactically. 1) 4-2-3-1 to 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-2 or 4-3-3, Wenger was also doing this last season. 2) High Press and High line. Ditto. Much of it is dictated by the assets we have. Where there is a difference is Emery appears to be willing to utilise the full length and breath of these options open to him and change in a (more) timely manner within a game. He is also far more meticulous in spotting and correcting detailed flaws. Its the right thing… Read more »
Seriously with Xhaka & Ozil + Mustafi etc, he (emery) won’t last 3 years. Plus Ramsey will be gone in January, unless he gets a Ozil type of wage hike.
I’m looking to see how Viera & Henry do in there coaching roles for the future.
You don’t have a crystal ball which is unfortunate for me because I could do with the lottery numbers. I’m not sure Emery has a 3 year contract does he? Over time different players will be brought into the team but for now Emery has to do what he can with what he has.

Two stinking matches and some have their knives out already. Shit like this really kills my sense of pride in being associated with Arsenal supporters.
And please, spare me the empty ‘it’s because I care’ because that’s a load of shit. It’s because of a lack of pride and not being able to support a club even when they’re not on top.

You going in the EmeryOut column, that’s what everyone needs to be Making Arsenal Great Again jeez louise
Bloody hell! Get a grip Donald, it’s embarrassing
Don’t you worry, most Arsenal fans will see it my way very soon. Including you, Jimbo
I hope not. What a miserable, negative world that would be.
It’ll be a dark, dark day I’m sure. Can’t wait! Stay positive!

It pains me to even think it but Xhaka isn’t going anywhere. He’s been named as one of Emery’s 5 captains, so he must have the managers trust.

Xhaka wasn’t stellar but when he subbed off we were notably pinned back to sitting deep and lost forward impetus.

Start with AUba and also Laca in place of ozil, drop Xhaka and bring torreira in his place. Leichtsteiner for Bellerin.
Nah.
Why don’t you accept that Torreira and Xhaka are completely different players and both should play. Torreira as the DM and Xhaka as a deep lying midfielder?
So take off Ozil and Xhaka, the two players most likely to create a key pass or scoring opportunity?
^This is in response to Akkimaniac.
