Arsenal’s reward for the 2-1 win over Blackpool this evening is a quarter-final tie against North London rivals Sp*rs.
They beat West Ham this evening to make progress themselves, and the game will take place at the Emirates Stadium on the 18th or 19th of December, just a couple of weeks after we play them at home in the Premier League.
The last time the two sides met in this competition was in September 2015 when Mathieu Flamini became the scourge of White Hart Lane both two goals in a 2-1 win.
It adds a certain something to the tie, particularly heading into the busy festive period.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have confirmed that the red card received by Matteo Guendouzi against Blackpool will rule him out of the Premier League game against Liverpool on Saturday.
Guendouzi's red card means he will serve a suspension against Liverpool in the league on Saturday, Arsenal have confirmed.

Which is a shame, and hopefully we’ll have a left-back available so Granit Xhaka can slot back into midfield.
Lets see if they remember where North London is, the itinerant scum
I love a bit of cerebral abuse, well played that person.
Will be very interesting to see what team Emery puts out for this.
This will be the most competitive Carabao cup game the world has ever seen.
Let’s stop them getting a trophy this decade (none won yet).
Cummon now, they only win when the year ends in a 1. Plenty of time yet
Not in this decade…
Just for your Sp*rs friends: https://twitter.com/clivebullen/status/1049691822640046081
You can show this with your fingers too ie how many trophies did they win in the 60s – 5 fingers – then reduce the number of fingers one by one as you move through the decades one by one.
Don’t have any sp*rs friends, just annoyances.
That’s like an acquaintance, only more of a pain in the arse.
Was hoping for a more competitive draw. You know a decent team to get the juices flowing and the Emirates pumping. Oh well, at least we can play the youngsters.
We know those shit are cup-shy so…….
Gutted not to have Guendouzi available for this weekend
guendouzi got the red exactly when our squad is being stretched from every side. lets hope one left back comes back soon from the injury for tge liverpool game and xhaka can come back to the middle. But i think the chance for that is slim. thats probably why maitland niles was given a run today so that they can play him against liverpool
Well at least we avoided Burton Albion.
I heard on the AFC.com commentary that the rules have changed for red and yellow cards, and that they only affect the competition in which they’re given, so surely that means he won’t be able to play against Sp*rs?
It’s a strange rule. The new rule only applies to yellow cards so the red card will be carried over to the Premier League so Guendouzi will miss Liverpool match
Professional fouling is an art – Ghendz will only learn by playing so this is something that we will have to swallow. Sure hope that we will have Bellerin and Monreal back for the Liverpool game – first real test in a while
oh yes and Sp#ds are shite
I wonder, IF andbig IF Xhaka is required at left back, is there a merit to pull Ramsey besides Torreira in midfield? His Welsh Jesus season was made when he was running the midfield besides Mikel “Lego Hair” Arteta, so I wonder..
Poor Flamini. Being written put of history yet again…
‘Out’ even
Listen, Potsanpanso has won nothing with the pub team up the road and talk sport was full of the Carrierbag being the one cup within his grasp. Because of this don’t think for one moment he will not play a full team. Playing them twice within such a short time is not good for my health.
We can not play the bin dippers on Saturday without a solid back four of Sok, Rob, Hector and Nacho. Anything short of this and it’s going to be a long ninety minutes.
