Alex Lacazette has been rewarded for his Arsenal form with a late recall to the France national team.
The Gunner, who was a surprise omission from Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad, started the season on the bench at the Emirates but has worked hard to persuade Unai Emery he’s the man to lead the attack. He has six goals in 15 appearances so far this campaign.

While Laca wasn’t initially given the nod for his country’s games against the Netherlands (Nations League) and Uruguay (friendly), an injury to Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has opened the door for him. He’s the only Arsenal representative in the squad.
The other strikers in the France squad include Ousmane Dembele, Nabil Fekir, Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Florian Thauvin…so he’s got some stiff competition.
All the same, good on Laca, he deserves his shot.
UPDATE – Lacazette has now pulled out of the squad. There are some suggestions he’s done so following a consultation between the Arsenal and France team doctors. We can only hope this is a precautionary measure rather than something serious.
He deserves it, has played great for us.

Must admit I perceived Laca’s numbers to be a bit higher than 6 in 15 games. Not quite averaging the 1 goal in every 2 games you’d want from your primary striker.
He’s basically a goal or two away from that rate. If he bags a brace or two he’d be right at that rate. And he certainly brings a bit more than goals to our play over the 90 minutes. I love Auba but we do lack link up play when he leads the attack. I’d love for us to find a magical nice way to fit them both up front whilst accommodating our other key players!

Lacazette, Mbappe, Griezmann would be a tasty front three but that’s at the expense of the Handsome French Bloke ☹️
Might be different for a friendly or a semi-meaningless “Nations League” match, but the problem for Lacazette is that Giroud is a better partner for Griezmann–and Deschamps (justifiably) wants Griezmann in the team. Laca is not really competing for a place against Giroud; it’s Laca /Dembele (to take an example) against Griezmann /Giroud.
i’m not sure about that. giroud is a good partner to lacazette and griezman. but i think whatever giroud brings lacazette can do that as well, bring others in play create chances for others. at the same time he can score goals as well and is very mobile unlike giroud

Btw since we are on the topic of France, what’s up with that Lemar fellow? From being bid for more than 90mn, the guy has gone anonymous. And shouldn’t we have gone after him this summer when it was fairly obvious that we needed a wide player. He would have been a much better signing than Auba. And Atletico snapped him up for just 50m!

My pal, who is never normally wrong… Has said its a slight thigh/leg muscle strain, but is still being seen as “precautionary”. This has hindered his performances recently, too… Just forwarding what I’ve heard.
Confirmed in l’Equipe newspaper, 15 days that he is playing with this slight problem, and that treatment popcess he has started this morning was scheduled for the break
