The full schedule for the International ‘Champions’ Cup (ICC) is due to be released tomorrow, but we already know that that Arsenal will be playing Bayern Munich in LA on July 17th.
Now it looks as if we have a fix on another of our US fixtures this pre-season, as the The Charlotte Post reveal we’ll be facing Roma in their city on July 20th.
The game will be played at the Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL side Carolina Panthers. It has a capacity of over 75,000.
This news adds another little piece to our pre-season jigsaw puzzle, with the full details made available tomorrow during an event in New York.
That takes place at 10am local time, so 3pm in the UK, and we’ll have all the information here on the site as and when it’s available.
Report: Thierry Henry is voted the greatest overseas player in the PL with 46% of the vote.

Great news, I wonder if there is an Arsenal news site that might pick up on it.
Well deserved. If only we had him now, eh.
To be fair – its only news. Not great.
By definition its not even news – as it is not new.
Nah, it’s a load of bollocks really 😉
It’s a sh!te BBC clickbait poll, move along, nothing to see here.
With the sparse amount of gripping news that we can see in the Interlull (look at most recent posts), celebrating an Arsenal legend winning heavily against lots of talented players makes lots of us happier.
You can decide.
They gave an ‘honourable mention’ to Dennis Bergkamp. Can’t take that shit seriously!
OK, let’s not celebrate Thierry when we have the chance to in a boring Interlull. Good decision.
Yeah,Blogs- kind of like being an atheist- God didn’t and has never existed- we’lll give Him an honourable mention instead. BBC is the source of much mirth if you don’t take it too seriously- these interlulls have a tendency to warp minds..
Polls mean jack, and BBC clickbait is utter cringe. Every NLD weekend – Pick your combined Arsenal and Tottenham XI – case in point.
This BBC poll was over three days with fans from all teams voting, so not comparable to a little poll like the one above.
Thierry/Arsenal winning means jack?
Foregone conclusion too. If you read the blurb for each candidate that they had, Henry was described as the greatest by one of the pundits. Presumably just in case there was anyone who didn’t know who to vote for.
Read the other ones, similarly big statements by other pundits for other players.
Yep – by the intolerable Chris Sutton, whilst it’s blindingly true it made me cringe that we both agreed with something. *Cringes again*
We need the cash and presumably Adidas will want early publicity for the costly new kit deal. Back in Wenger’s day, we mainly went to Austria and the like for gentle pre-season training camps instead. It wasn’t profitable but, on the other hand, the players weren’t tired out afterwards. You make your choice, but these days we (have to) take the money!
It’s interesting our relatively barren years coincided with the ending of the Austrian training camps. It’s impossible to say they were the source of our success but I’m sure they helped more than jetting around the world to unfamiliar climates and disruptive time zones
Our fortunes subsided when the quality of our squad dropped and the teams that are winning the league and champions league have been going on long distance pre-season for well over a decade.
Isn’t Charlotte where the neo Nazis hang out?
No, that was Charlottesville, Virginia.
“Very fine people on both sides”
In fairness to Charlottesville, the neo-Nazis came there for a big rally from all over–there’s nothing especially right-wing about the place. (Home to the University of Virginia and a controversy about removing Confederate statues–which was the excuse for the “fine people” to show up.)
I’ve been in Charlotte. Got a connecting flight to Fort Lauderdale.
And I’ve been in Sofia.
I’ve been to Hull – and back. Does that count?
I spent a night in the Paris Hilton, if that counts. Lovely decor.
in THE Paris Hilton or IN Paris Hilton, I’d wager there’s been an equal amount in both
I’ve been to Scunthorpe. Does that make me a cunt?
I’ve been to Paradise, but I’ve never been to me.
And I had a girlfriend called Sofia, Alex- she was a nice lass.
Charlotte North Carolina is Ric Flair country, woooooooooo!
Rich flair is an old cunt
@arseblog Blogs the time is 2PM UK time tomorrow. The clocks have gone forward here, but not yet for GMT so you’re only 4 hrs ahead… ??
well you guys don’t sound happy about this but for an american gooner who lives a few hours away from charlotte, i’ll be there!!
Yes, I live in Charlotte (owd retiree) they played a match here last year. Liverpool v Dortmund I think, prices started at $40 +, for a friendly with mainly reserves playing – no thanks.
Founding member of the Queen City Gooners here and thrilled they are finally coming to Charlotte. Huge Arsenal contingent and Ri Ra’s gets loud on game day.We will be well represented at Bank of America stadium.
Lots of folks from the Atlanta Gooners will be making the short drive up
It was mainly reserves due to players playing in world cup and have to sit a month out as in players agreement
Yes!!! It’s a dream. Was wishing for this. GOYG
So no Emirates Cup this year by the looks of it. If we play Roma on July 20th and Real Madrid July 23rd it would just leave the 27th and 28th as the Community Shield is August 4th.
Call me pessimistic, but I have a feeling we’re not going to be in the Community Shield this year.
