Arsenal have offered Petr Cech the chance to take up a position on the coaching staff when he retires in the summer, according to a publication with a name that rhymes with The Bun.
In January, the 36-year-old, who is already undertaking his coaching badges, announced he’ll be hanging up his gloves when his three-year contract at the Emirates ends.
After a glittering career that has seen him win every available trophy in English and European football, his talent and experience are obviously in demand.
Former club Chelsea, for whom he played for 11 years, are also said to be interested in acquiring his services, either as a coach or an ambassador.
Given his connection to the Blues – Roman Abramovich likes him so much he even sanctioned the move to Arsenal when Cech pushed for it – you’d not be surprised if he returned to West London rather than stick it out at London Colney.
Whatever he decides to do, he’ll likely be a success. Able to speak five languages and also a keen drummer, he’s better prepared than most footballers for life outside the game.
Especially if he wants to become a drummer who can sing in different languages.
What sort of music is he into? Anyone? I’ll happily accept answers in the form of puns
Rock and (save the) goal. #sorrynotsorry
hopefully not the Blues
Wengaboys
Glove step.
Salt ‘n’ Petr (Let’s talk about Cech)
He likes anything with a fade out… He likes it when songs petr out…
Yes, that’s my coat, thanks.
Post-punk
Rumour has it that his favourite album is “Cech your head” by the Beastie Boys
Petr Cech yaself before you wreck yaself
Protect ya Cech – Wu Tang Clan
If I’m not mistaken he’s a big Nirvana fan and most 90s Rick music. Also Ramstein I think.
90s Rick music? Isn’t it traditional to post things like that as a link to a well – known video on YouTube?
Would love for him to stay at the Arsenal just like Per. Petr & Per, I like it. Two extremely likeable and intelligent humans.
Ok so Per, Pires, Ljungberg and now Cech. Could it be we are assembling the greatest five-a-side team for the bi annual inter parish coaches cup?
I imagine that he’d make a very good coach. I’d be surprised though if he didn’t return to Chelsea because of the huge success he had with them and his good relationship with Comrade A.
Absolute gent. Played for the two biggest clubs in London, and retires with the respect of both sets of fans. Wish him luck in whatever he does.
He’s played for Arsenal women?
West Ham is a probably a bigger club than Chelski.
It’s a hell of a lot of experience to hold on to, but I’d expect him to go to Chelsea to be honest
Would love to keep Cech around. The kind of experience he could pass on to the younger players would be hard to find elsewhere.
P.S. Screw the publication that rhymes with The Bun
As much I would love him to stay on with us and help mould the next generation of keeper. I wouldn’t mind one bit if he went back to Chelsea as he is a class guy.
What ever he does in the coming months after his well earned retirement from the game I wish him nothing but success.
Yep. The bridge are in dire need of some class…so if he brings it there, who’s to blame him?
Still, hope he stays with us.
We know how much Blogs loves a singing drummer…
Don’t drummers have to play out from the back ?
No thanks. It’s time for the secret agent to finally go back to where he came from.
BFG or john terry, shouldn’t be a choice……………
Make him Director of Football!
Like a multilingual Phil Collins…
…. only a lot less shit.
