Disappointed Ramsey thanks Arsenal fans

Aaron Ramsey has thanked the Arsenal fans for their support over the last 11 years after it was confirmed his hamstring injury will rule him out for the rest of the season.

The Wales international picked up the injury in Naples last month and despite intensive treatment won’t be fit enough to make a final appearance in the Gunners shirt.

Earlier today, Unai Emery praised the midfielder’s professionalism since his decision to move to Juventus was announced while club captain Laurent Koscielny hailed the midfielder’s ‘great mentality and character’.

Taking to social media, Ramsey wrote: “It saddens me to say that the game against Napoli was my last game in an Arsenal shirt. Unfortunately, it left me with an injury that rules me out of the remaining games. I am really disappointed not to play until the end and give everything for the club while I am still an Arsenal player. Unfortunately, it’s out of my hands but I wanted to say thank you to the fans for your support.

“It has been a journey, on and off the field, and so much has happened in 11 years. I was a spotty young kid coming in and I’m leaving a man, married, father of three boys and full of pride and good memories that I will treasure. It will be emotional this weekend – my last game at home. I Look forward to seeing you there and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for everything ”

It’s expected that both Aaron and Petr Cech, who retires this summer, will be given a guard of honour after Sunday’s final home game of the season against Brighton.

Obviously it’s a sad way for Aaron’s Arsenal career to end, we can only wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his two FA Cup winning goals.

GunneRon

Those unforgettable cup winners, the numerous wonder goals, that memorable season, the incredible comeback from injury and last but not the least the professionalism, loyalty and commitment till the end. Thank You for all the memories Aaron. We may not have always given you the love and respect you deserved. But that didn’t stop you from giving your heart and soul everytime you played for us. For that reason alone you’re a Legend in our eyes. Goodbye and good luck Welsh Jesus

Amusa

I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Farwell legend.

St.macca

I know its old news but it is absolutely scandalous that a player of this quality, at the peak of his career has been allowed to leave on a free transfer.
Good luck to him, he has been quality on and off the pitch.

ArsenalTillIDie

Get over it. He’s leaving and he played phenomenal for us this season. Focus on him, everything else is done and dusted. Give the man the attention he deserves.

Alex

This season, yes… when he wasn’t injured or in the shop window.

Tas_Gunner

World exists Outside Ozil.

NMArsenal

Maybe this injury at a crucial time is a reminder of Ramsey’s limitations. I think Ramsey leaving is great for him and Arsenal.

He should get a chance to play with top players and experience new environment in his prime. Arsenal is not the tier club it was last decade. Ramsey’s injury record and blowing hot and cold through the last few seasons with Arsenal isn’t great.

Let just wish him farewell and look forward to new players who fit to Arsenal better.

A Different George

According to The Guardian, Juventus have also gotten the following players on free transfers, all of them with years of top-quality football ahead of them: Dani Alves, Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Emre Can, Sami Khedira, Paul Pogba, Luca Toni, and Kingsley Coman.

No, I don’t understand it either.

Clarkey

Who’s chopping those feckin’ onions?

Tas_Gunner

Arsenal fans who are celebrating with a bbq party. You coming?

gooner

Thanks for everything Aaron. Hope you come back at some stage in the near future. All the best.

Mesut O'Neill

Doubt Juventus will be in the Europa league anytime soon!!

yen

After *that* season of his, at Arsenal’s training camp in Austria, we went to this local tiny bar, blasted “Human” cover by Arsenal Away Boyz for 16 times on repeat, singing “are we human or are we Ramsey,” super drunk.

Good times!

yen

(16x because of his shirt number back then)

Futsboller

A game winner we will sorely miss.

Paul Roberts

Good luck Rambo and thanks.

Tasmanian Jesus

Sad stuff right there.
How you holding up blogs?

arseblog

Struggling mate. Hate to see my own son suffering like this

Sue

Such a shame it ended this way! Thank you Rambo! Let’s give him a good send off on Sunday

Stonroy

How has no one lost their job over his free transfer? Scandalous.

leroy

thanks for everything and best of luck, Rambo!

injuries aside, he has one of the best highlight reels. cup winning goals, goals against sp*rs, back heels, assists, and ‘that’ goal against galatasaray. not sure i can pick my favourite.

Alex

Injuries, out of position, selfish, Hollywood backheels… this is what you said about him, “fans”. I add that this guy asked far too luch money from Arsenal. He wanted to leave, he leaves, good ridance.

SuperTom7

You couldn’t be more wrong. By the way, did he asked more money from you mate or from from a useless billionaire owner? For instance, I as a fan couldn’t care less what his paycheck is if he performs well.

Max Fischer

Yuck…what a lame comment. Kinda bummed you’re a member of the fanbase of my favorite club.

loose_cannon

Christ, I wish Juventus would take you on a free as well, jeeeez

Kwame Ampadu Down

This from Alex who wrote ‘makes me sick to read this’ on a negative post on the latest Ozil story on here today. You’re an embarrassment.

Santori

Ahh pity. I think its a shame we haven’t been able to retain him as he enters his best years. A couple of seasons back I mentioned, he had several shaky games in the deeper role particularly when he left (the older) flamini isolated and tried to affect more threat further forward. But the pair did preside over a good patch of games with some of our key figures (including Sanchez) out and we managed to win against City and Olympiakos (away) My thoughts on Ramsey in a deeper role was he had not yet reach sufficient maturity to know… Read more »

Supergirlfootballer

Spotted on the Arsenal site today that he was the player of the season last year (17/18) – seems crazy that we can let our best player leave for free and not have any like-for-like replacement sorted.

Mesut O'Neill

Perhaps they are hoping Smith-Rowe is that player

Tas_Gunner

Good riddance. Now sign jack back on a 10 year contract,Tweet Wenger was a fraud and terminate ozil contract Arsenal. We will probably lose 20m followers overnight cause that many will wank themselves to death in happiness. Not sure they will be missed tho.

RedCurrant

We sure as fuck won’t miss you.

Tas_Gunner

?? Don’t really give a fuck about that.Karma is sweet.Enjoy the fruit instead of spamming crocodile tears.

Clockendrider

If this is an attempt to win “Most Bizarre Comment of the Year” then you certainly have my vote. Well done.

Lobster

Fairwell in Welsh; Fuck off in Asshole, anybody?

Gooner Sam

Unfortunately some weirdos on this comments section

Wilsheres Middle Finger

You back on those funny mushrooms Tas?

My name is Jeff

Thank you Aaron for everything you did for the club, and you will always be a Gunner!

Kwame Ampadu Down

Good luck Rambo. Anyone going know Sunday make sure you give him a great send off.

Zuhair

Thank you so much for the great times, Aaron. For someone who started watching and supporting Arsenal in 2012, you have been the player who has given me immense joy, and at times, immense anger.

Nevertheless, we love you, always will, and I hope I’m not the only one shedding a tear. You will be missed.

Here’s to our Welsh Jesus, FA Cup Winner, and our V12 engine.

Tony Hall

Best of luck fella with your new adventure in Juventus and thanks for always giving 100% even in your last season when many players would have stopped trying.

Włodarz Aleksander

i’ve feeling that , without Aaron , there’ll be no one to score a winner 🙁

Craig Jacobs

Ramsey you must at least say Goodbye proper after or before an Arsenal game at home on the pitch…

Wilsheres Middle Finger

A stalwart of Arsenal Football Club. Ramsey will be truly missed.

Mark

Feel awful for Ramsey that he won’t get to play at the Emirates again in front of the home crowd to get a proper send off when being taken off of the pitch one last time. He’s been a true Gunner and always given everything he’s had to the club and will be missed.

Ale

Wish we could just buy him back from juve, am ?

Jimbo

I’ll be at the Emirates on Sunday – my first time – would prefer to watch him play but it will be nice to add my voice to the cheers at the end. Sensational player, Arsenal legend, lovely!
