Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock were on the scoresheet for England’s U20 side who are taking part in the Toulon Tournament.
Lining out against Portugal this evening, the 19 year old striker put England ahead in the 8th minute, and Willock got a late goal but sadly couldn’t do enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat.
England play again on Friday when they face Chile. The goals are below.
Well done lads, big things await next season.
At least more gametime.
I thought you had a good idea on the Arsecast, Blogs. Willock seems like he could slot in nicely to Elneny’s place in the squad. That would give him 10-15 games which it looks like he’s ready for, especially in the EL and Carabao Cup. And maybe Nketiah for Welbeck’s place?
Yeah if Willock does well enough he could slowly start/sub premier league games.
There will certainly be opportunities for both – between the US preseason, Europa, Carabao and odd first team rotation. Regular first team action for both is probably dependent on decisions made on Smith Rowe and Nelson.
All aboard the project youth train, Chooo chooooo
COME OOOOORN
I dreamt yesterday that Eddie had scored 4 goals against city and declared himself our first choice striker. If only…
Steady on. We don’t want him selecting the side. This isn’t Chelsea.
Willock has a very positive maturity trend, performance is better for each game he gets. Nketiah shows great promise at times but he has to step up now, make himself a true alternative when we want to add attacking power or rest 1st choice strikers. To breakthrough they need to go from “oh I did something good” to I am gonna own that opposite back 4 from start to end mentality.
Really like both of these players and I hope it’s part of Freddie’s remit to integrate them properly in the first team
This is a gamble. and our back line is always gambled unlike other clubs who almost have two squads to pick from.Let me hope they progress well.
