Arsenal Women boss Joe Montemurro spoke with the press after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Here is what he said.
On the injury to Danielle Carter…
We need to have a chat with her and get some scans done and have a look. She’s pretty distraught at the moment and we will wait and see before we confirm anything.
On playing at the Emirates Stadium…
We’ve only had one and a half weeks in training so far and I think you could see that at times. But it’s a great adventure, we are honoured and thank everyone for making it happen and it was a great occasion for the girls
The more of these occasions, situations where the fans can come and see good football and some of the best players in the world, the more we put these games on important stages and it looks like a good football game the more people will come out and watch it and they got a good taste of it today.
We’re delighted to confirm a peak attendance of 28,500 at Emirates Stadium this afternoon ☺️
A massive thank you to each and every one of you for your support ❤️ pic.twitter.com/x5YLFJUefu

On Bayern being further into their pre-season preparations than Arsenal…
We are probably spiking a little too early playing these teams with the amount of training we have had, we would have liked a couple more weeks but it was important we gave the players at the World Cup a good rest.
On when Jordan Nobbs will be fit…
She’s starting to integrate into full training, she did a full (light) session this week with us and she will grow and we believe she will be ready for the first game of the season.
Thanks Tim.
Not too concerned about the result at this stage although how we conspired to lose to a team when we have taken all of their players I don’t know.
I am concerned about Dan being carried off so soon after returning from such a serious injury last season. Hopefully this was more precautionary than necessity and she will be ok for the start of the season.
If the injury is not too serious, then Dan is likely to spend a lot of time on the bench when you consider the potent forward line we have. Dan is a stylish player but a lot of the time fails to put chances away, thankfully the same can’t be said of Miedema and co.
Fingers crossed for Dan. Didn’t look good 🙁
Seeing Carter get injured is heartbreaking. Desperately hoping it’s not as bad as it looked.
Prayers & best wishes for Dan C.
