Arsenal have confirmed that Deyan Iliev will spend the season on loan at Slovak side ŠKF Sereď.
The 24-year-old, who was on the Arsenal bench for the Europa League final, had been competing to be the club’s third choice keeper for the season ahead but appears to have lost out to Matt Macey.
Having never played first team football at the Emirates and without a loan move to his name it’s probably a good time for Deyan to go out and get the experience he’s probably craving.
All the best to him for the year ahead.
He really needs the loan move to aid his development and of course get a decent transfer fee when it’s time to move him on.
Well, the head coach of ŠKF Sereď is Macedonian same as Deyan, so I guess this is another path/opportunity for Iliev to gain some first team experience and to become No 1 goalkeeper of Macedonia ( at the moment he’s second choice ) and maybe will have some future at Arsenal.
Good luck and all the best!
Really think the younger keepers should be given every opportunity for games, we can’t let them all reach martinez’ age with barely any experience
Martinez played a number of vital games for Reading last season, so really, he does have experience.
Leno is a similar age and has masses of experience, as did sczeszny. Martinez has a good amount of experience for a player 5/6 years younger
Emi was loaned out repeatedly but could never nail down a starting spot anywhere until last season at Reading. He’s 26.
No signings then? 🙁
Signings ha ha ha ha.
I am just waiting for Emery to start rolling out “Bellerin will be like a new signing”
We were really spoiled under Wenger….
Emery is going to show us just how shit things can become…
I don’t think any of this is Emery’s fault regardless of what I think of him as a manager.
That made me smile.
Strange move. Being from Slovakia, I can say that the Slovak league is abysmal – probably worse than League Two.
Sereď is mid-table at best and not known for playing particularly good football – or for anything else, really.
A move to the Balkans or the Czech Republic would certainly be better for his development.
It’s probably down to the relationship with the coach.
Hope it works out for him, at least I’ll have a reason to watch some Slovak league – though that might not be a good thing.
Perhaps Arsenal can relocate to the Slovakian league then.
Might win something…
4th place trophy u mean ?
Unlikely, but the way things are going, we might get to play a Slovak team in the Europa League eventually.
Provided we manage to stay in Europe, that is.
Good move for his development.
Are there any Slovak clubs in the Europa League even? Looks like Iliev is done at Arsenal.
