That bench is super strong!

Berlingoon

and we still are missing guys like Bellerin, Tierney, Holding and Özil, assuming we’re selling Mustafi and Elneny. Squad is definitely strong. Very optimistic about top 4.

Goonereality

Yes, but let’s not get too carried away quite yet. Remember, with City and Liverpool shoe-ins for a top four finish, we’re going to have to get above two clubs from Spu*s, Chelsea and Utd (assuming there’s not a new Leicester City lurking anywhere). It’s quite possible of course, but even with our new players it isn’t going to be easy. We’ll get a better idea come Christmas.

Best Coast Gunner

Thank god we have really good strikers

Mordi

Can’t wait for kick off. 3 point please. COYGs.

Rob67

Interesting selection. A little harsh on Chambers but with Anfield looming, the main blog called it correctly.

Abdus-Samad Mohamed

Emery wanting Pepe to earn his place in the team

Kaleja

The midfield is very lightweight., But COYG

goonero

They did my boy Chambo dirty, but no Mhkitaryan, Xhaka or Mustafi in the XI so it’s all good.

3 points, Reis Nelson to score, clean sheet come on booooys

Anonymarse

Plenty of youth in there again

Flash

Very interesting line-up.
It’s gonna be a 4-3-3 if I’m not mistaken, with the youngsters + Ceballos in the middle.
Can’t wait…
COYG!

KwameGunner

Nelson and Willock have finally arrived. A very young midfielder trio. Great bench. With Tierney, Holding and Bellarin to come! Life is good!!

Kaleja

+ Saliba , Martinelli, Nketiah and so on. If no one goes the next 7-10 years will be very interesting.!

facts

harsh on chambers but i cant help but feel this is one of the best lineups we could field

Deo

I expect Luiz to be the first name in defence. If Xhaka is not playing, makes even more sense. We will need some shithousery against Trashley Barnes.

Fatgooner

Chambers should start: he was excellent at Newcastle. I don’t trust Sideshow Bob.

And where’s Ozil? I suppose this is another £350k wasted.

Alex

Not more waste than £15M for a loanee.

Crash Fistfight

You do realise that Ozil and Ceballos can play in the same team, don’t you? And there’s no way we’ve spent £15m on a year’s loan.

sami

Ceballos bossed it

momozemio

My 1sr ever game at the Emirates…. buzzing and hoping for the best!!! Hope to see Pepe and Torreira as well ? COYG?

Thierry Walcott

Have fun Momo! You’re living what’s still a dream to me ♥️

momozemio

Thanks Thierry… half tim score just reminds me i forgot to mention that Mike Dean remains an international c*nt in 19/20…

Ballz

Interesting not to see Torreira. That’s a very soft midfielder without a DM. Anyway COYG!!!

Okechukwu Jude

What’s actually wrong with Ozil? What’s with these periodic unexplained illness he suffers? If we put together the number of times he’s been missing due to this “strange illness” we could actually make half a season full of games.

Alex

Attacks, threats, police, protection, bodyguards… Have you heard of it or ? It’s nice to see fans having empathy for their player. But we’ve got Dani £15M a year Ceballos!

Crash Fistfight

1. Kolasinac is on the bench
2. Ozil has an illness
3. Shut up

Vonnie

It’s possible to support Mesut without being nasty about other players, Alex. By making digs at others you are doing exactly what you don’t like when others do it to Mesut. We have to accept that we are all different and love different types of players, I love Mesut Ozil and some of the nastiness directed at Mesut is not acceptable in my opinion, but I don’t need to slag off others to prove my support. We are a team, and two wrongs don’t make a Wright, Wright, Wright.

Jack4343

Pathetic that you will attack another Arsenal player to prop up your favorite. Not a good look for a fan of the club. That being said, Ozil will get his starts. He had the awful outside distraction to deal with and also missed a day of training. As far as Ceballos goes, I’ll bet we attempt to buy him outright so the loan won’t be wasted on fans such as yourself. Zidane doesn’t care for him and if we would’ve had the cash we could’ve gotten him permanently this summer.

Edward

I’m very exciting to see what our line up for this match can do. Game on gunners

Mentally Drained Gooner

I can understand the why Pepe is on bench but can’t wait anymore to see him start

loose_cannon

Very attacking midfield selection, Emery’s going for it today!

Rich

Emery due to injuries and lack of alternatives last season, was forced into relying on Ozil, Mustafi, Mkhitaryan, something I’m not convinced he was comfortable in doing. This season it looks like he’d rather risk failing with the enthusiasm of youth, than have the same experienced personnel letting him down, time and again…. Hopefully he’s brave enough, and the fans are patient enough to see this through, this was always going to be a 3-4 Yr squad rebuilding process. Guendouzi 20, Willock, 19, Nelson 19, Niles 21 Ceballos 23, is very exciting, but we’ll certainly need support and patience to… Read more »

Goonereality

You make the point about a re-building period, and that’s true, but after the years of relative decline at the back-end of the Wenger era, people want results today, not tomorrow – no matter how impractical that may be. That said, of course we have to give the youngsters time – and some results may not go our way while we do it. But that’s the trade-off, isn’t it.

CLEGooner

Where’s Oz?

Richie

Near New Zealand.

HansRott

Martinelli must really be impressing in training.

Goonereality

Good team selection. It’s important to get the new signings up and running for the games against Liverpool and Spu*s.

DefaultGray

That really annoys me to see Chambers dropped. I agree with what Blogs said in this morning’s preview about getting Luiz some minutes but in that case drop Sokratis. We need to be showing the younger players that if they don’t make mistakes they stay in the team, this just shows Chambers the manager has no faith in him and would rather use him as backup. Frustrating if this is gonna be how his season pans out with Holding and Saliba to come

Daniel

We should make it a rule to always have a spanish playmaker in the centre of midfield. It’s like blessing for my soul to see Ceballos continue in footsteps of Cazorla and Fabregas, especially after last few seasons watching Xhaka…

Jack4343

He had one he’ll of a good first half, didn’t he? I think in the 2nd half our defense should take turns trying to smash the ball off of Barnes face. Can’t stand him or his ugly mug.

Futsboller

Ditto. Should do the same to Mike Dean, repeatedly. I’ve never seen a referee like him — you can just sense that he’s sauntering around trying to find a way to help Burnley out. It’s remarkable …

Deep

He had a great half. Dribbled out of tight situations like ‘Little Mozart’.
But he didnt defend so well in those one on ones. Dribbled past twice at the edge of the box whilst he kept standing with his back leg out. Led to a dangerous situation the 1st time and led to the goal when he was dribbled past the 2nd time.

Richie

1-1 at half time. Is it Pepe time?

Goonereality

It’s certain he’ll be on in the second half. Overall, the first half was OK-ish, but nothing to show for it at the end of the 45 minutes. We remain vulnerable to the more physical play of Burnley, although we’re a little better than in recent seasons. We need the three points, particularly with (on paper) tougher tests against Liverpool and Spu*s to come.

Richard Suku

Ozil didn’t make the bench either? What’s going? I hope this isn’t the pep verses Yaya thing going on here.I am just saying, it’s a thought
