David Luiz says the reason he decided to join Arsenal was because he wasn’t prepared to stay in a comfort zone at Chelsea.
The 32 year old joined the Gunners on deadline day, making something of a surprise move from west to north London, but he insists his ambitious outlook is what drove the decision.
Having impressed on his debut in the 2-1 win over Burnley, the Brazilian spoke about the transfer, and why he made the switch.
“I am a guy with ambition and that is why I moved,” he said.
“I could choose a comfortable zone and get money and be cool and that is it. But I like a new a challenge and new things in my life.
“This is what gives me oxygen and gives me motivation and also to really enjoy this moment of my life.
“One day football will finish and you have to try to do things and improve every day as one day I will miss football.
“I am trying to be first honest with my heart and honest in the way that to try to feel new things.
“Everyone knows I was so happy at Chelsea and won many trophies there and had a real honest conversation with Lamps, and Lamps had different ideas for his plans for the year.
“In life you have to believe, if you don’t try things you are never going to know if you can do it or not.”
This guy really has flipped my opinion of him. Really happy he is in the squad.
I haven’t had much joy talking with my light fittings either tbf.
I love lamp
??
I hear he put his finger in a light fitting many years ago? ?
So far, so good. Honestly I can’t stand to see a man cry, so let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. COYG!!
Honestly I love to realize men are human.
In Peter Drury’s voice..
“Ceballos bosses the midFIELD at anFIELD
as it ends here after full time Liverpool 0:2 Arsenal!… Arsenal lay a statement to the rest of the big six and the premier league at large!!!!…..incredible tactical performance!….do not write The Arsenal off!”
Yeah i understand…….feeling positive shouldn’t be a crime ?????
Benayoun, Benayoun, YOSSI BENAYOUN!
I can’t see either side of the scoreline being 0. Both teams want to push forwards. Both have teeth in attack (well, fucking great fangs in ours). Both are not quite solid defensively.
If we do win, it’ll be an Emery scoreline. 3-4 or something like that.
If…if is good
I’m very optimistic about this signing. It could prove to be exactly what we needed. I think he is a better defender and all round player than all our current options at CB.
I think he can take over the responsibily from Xhaka to take all those all passes. Removin Xhaka from the team is essential for the fluidity of the midfield trio.
Not sure i agree, remember when we had both ozil and cazorla playing well and cazorla got injured? it became much easier for other teams to handle us as our only real creative threat in terms of splitting passes coming from 1 person. Variety of options gives us further chances. Not to mention Luiz and Xhaka occupy different positions on the pitch making the passing angles different and as a passed ball moves faster than defenders can preposition in response passes from luiz to xhaka open opportunities for us to move the ball out from the back quickly to xhaka… Read more »
I completely agree with everything you said (hence the thumps up) but my god, punctuation man! ?
Why not just kill him? You could burn him at a stake outside the twelve pins or something….. that’ll keep him out of team.
ALL.
He is an Englishman!

He is an Englishman!
For he himself has said it,
And it’s greatly to his credit,
That he is an Englishman!

For he might have been a Roosian,
A French, or Turk, or Proosian,
Or perhaps Itali-an!

But in spite of all temptations
To belong to other nations,
He remains an Englishman!

I suspect people think you’re being a bit BNP, don’t worry I get the ‘HMS Pinafore’ reference but I’m not sure I understand the context for David Luiz. Would you enlighten me?
So that’s what it was!
I can’t imagine there’s many Gilbert & Sullivan fans on here, to be fair.
And no Simpsons fans either.

You need to go on Only Connect, with that kind of skill for tenuous links.
WTAF???
Good.
Meanwhile Em – 6, Lamps – 1
So far so good with Luiz in our ranks.
I reckon that Luiz would have a bigger challenge at Burnley than at Arsenal.
