Arsenal take on Sheffield United at the Emirates this afternoon, looking for three points against a team that beat us earlier in the season.
Here are today’s official line-ups.
Arsenal: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Luiz, Saka, Xhaka, Torreira, Ozil, Martinelli, Pepe, Lacazette
Subs: Martinez, Holding, Bellerin, Guendouzi, Willock, Ceballos, Nkeitah
Sheffield United: Henderson, Basham, Egan, O’Connell, Stevens, Norwood, Baldock, Lundstram, Fleck, Mousset, McBurnie
Subs: Jagielka, Besic, Sharp, Verrips, Freeman, Osborn, Robinson
Should be enough to get the result.
Did I see Mustafi on that team sheet?…?♂️
Change the record mate
Let’s hope Nkeitah get some game time. Out of interest what website do you guys use to watch 3pm KO ? I already know an Arabic one
hahaha! If I had a dollar for everytime we’ve heard that line and not “got the result”.
Underestimate Sheffield at your own peril. They are going to gives us a very tough game, especially with us missing Aubameyang and being forced into playing Mustafi.
Glad to see Bellerin on the bench and is getting closer to regular game time. COYG
After Arteta he’s not the obvious first choice, as AMN has been really good. Seems like AMN got a wake up call from Arteta and is finally showing his potential.
Certainly won’t be easy for Bellerin if AMN keeps on putting on those performances
I’m with Arteta on this one, Bellerin has not yet this season gotten his fitness up anywhere near 100% since returning from the knee injury. We will see a better Bellerin when he does. He can add so much moving the ball up the wing, and hopefully he gets some of that legendary recovery speed back.
AMN has slowly been improving his defense though, so he’s closing ground on Hector there.
Arguable AMN fits the system better than Bellerin, coming in as an additional midfielder instead of bombing up the flank.
Bellerin has real smarts when it comes to interceptions, and he’ll help Arsenal regain possession quickly from that tucked-in midfield position at times.
Mustafi = LANS.
I would have started Ceballos ahead of Martinelli. This game needs dribblers, to get through their very tight defensive lines.
I’ll never argue against players with technique but we also need an aggressive goal scorer with Auba out.
Yes, but Martinelli has a good dribble as well
Great that Martinelli starts (nothing to do with my Fantasy team of course). 🙂
Nketiah on the bench probably meaning hes definitively staying ?
Despite the fact he was widely expected to go out on loan again having been recalled from Leeds at the start of January, it now appears as if Eddie Nketiah will stay at Arsenal for the rest of this season.
That’s according to David Ornstein in The Athletic, and a similar report in the Telegraph this evening. This was reported a couple of days ago mate.
I’ll better believe what I see than what I hear. Mate 😉
The Oracle has spoken mate.
That had already been decided
Nelson?
Cygan?
GG 7+
Nketiah announces himself for the next Ballon d’Or shortlist today.
What’s happened to Nelson?
Hamstring
And Sokratis?
Illness.
It’s pronounced “soccatits”.
When?
He does it every evening with his wife, she’s used to it.
happy to dani on the bench
No Nelson, No Socratis.
No Benji.
Can’t wait for Martinelli to bang in a hatrick!
Can’t wait for Mustafi to shush the haters and bang in a hatrick! ?
Hope springs eternal 😀
In which net?
Hater. ?
I like the front three, Martinelli, Laca and Pepe. Dangereux! The back four of AMN, Mustafi, Luiz and Saka leave me trembling.
when you look at Artetas tactics it ain’t that scary, as Xhaka drops deep when Saka attacks. And Martinelli becomes an attacker.
The starting formation changes whether we’re attacking or defending. We’ve adapted a style similar to Guardiola, but with a few adaptations.
Look out for the long passes from Luiz and Xhaka now compared to the Emery era. Both have become integral attackijg options from the back
Martinelli + Saka down the left is exciting.
I’d much rather we persisted with the inexperience of Saka, than panic signing a free from PSG, who their fans seem very excited about losing.
As Mustafi is continually mocked and made a lightening rod for all that went wrong at the latter end of last season and to some degree rightly so, his ball playing skills should not be dismissed and I for one think that Arteta can get the best out of his somewhat limited skillset. We as Arsenal fans have become cat’s paws to the media’s insidious and salacious agenda and with the advent of numerous platforms giving everybody a “voice” it is evident some “fans” do not understand what it truly means to be a “fan” of Arsenal FC. Players might… Read more »
I am not worried about his ball playing skills, but about his mad moments. Remember Boumsong anyone, good defender but he was always an accident waiting to happen.
Totally agree with this mate, well said.

What a bunch of sappy old bollocks disguised in a smart, emphatic statement.
Fingers crossed it’s enough to get a result. Coyg
If we win 8-0 today, we go above Spurs on goal difference.
If we win 1 – 0 today “St Totteringham’s Day” will be in our own hands. 🙂
Surprised not to see Nelson in the squad, but happy Martinelli has been given a chance, he’s in for a full and proper welcome to British football from the Sheffield CBs today.
Nelson is injured, unfortunately.
I would have said the Sheffield CB’s are in for a full and proper welcome to Martinelli today.
Where is Sokratis? his big frame compesates for his shortcomings
His big frame is injured apparently.
Mustafi is like a super resistant tick, genetically created in a Chinese govt lab… Just can’t get rid of him.
Anybody know a good stream for the game?
Arsenal playing like they have played for the last four years.
Not very well.
Arteta wants to bring the style of Man City to Arsenal but the trouble is that, apart from one or two players Arsenal are simply not good enough.
Hopefully the second half is better than the first but I’m not holding my breath.
Arsenal players are much better at talking on twitter than they are at winning big football games…
We are moving the ball a little slowly, but improved in the last 10 of the first half. Saka, Pepe, Ozil and the rest of the back 4 did well. Martinelli, surprisingly, didn’t have a great half but as I pointed out on another thread listing his (many) qualities, he makes great runs and has a knack of being ‘Johnny on the spot’. That’s what got him that goal. If we can improve on that last 10 of the first hakf, we should do this. But I have been impressed with Sheff Utd, particularly with Fleck, who keeps finding space… Read more »
Thanks man. Looking forward to your full match report.
Martinelli is playing more like a striker, getting less space to run at people.. I think Arteta has decided to take advantage of his nack for scoring goals..
Unfortunately I live in England so I’m unable to watch the game. How mad is that?
I live in Thailand right now, but probably off to China on a few months. We get all the games live here for about £15 a month.
Even when Ozil plays?
Poor decision to take off Lacazette when it was only 1-0…..
He was crap!
And the improvement over Emery is?
Needs time. We likely won’t see the improvement until next season.
