We need the FA Cup as a potential escape route to this poor, poor season.
Easily the most controlled half of football we’ve played under Arteta. Bournemouth have not been very good, but we’re moving the ball extremely well, confidently, and Willock adds a physical dimension to that #10 role that we need in away matches like this. How about that Saka!
Holding and Mustafi truly is the tale of Frank Grimes and Homer Simpson brought to life.

I would have played Lacazette as he needs a goal to kick-start his form again, but looking at the Bournemouth team, I fancy us to win.
A draw wouldn’t be so bad though – replay at the Emirates to boost income by a 7-figure sum, and more game time for the likes of Nketiah, Willock, Guendouzi, Martinez.
I’m surprised that Bellerin, Mustafi and Xhaka are starting for different reasons – coming back from injury, talking up Holding and needing playing time, rest – respectively.
Suppose Arteta is taking this quite seriously and may substitute some of them later in the game based on the situation.

Xhaka needs to play in this one to provide some experience behind that young forward line.

Wow, I don’t want to sound cocky, but for that stage of the competition that’s more or less a bye to the next round compared to what other Premier League teams will be facing.
Also good news that Kloppo announced to field basically an U23 squad for the replay vs Shrewsbury, because he already promised his senior squad a holiday for the date on which the FA scheduled the replay.
In other words, don’t blow this, guys! (No pressure…)

The good thing is that a draw is not a catastrophe today or generally in this competition, even though we could do without any additional games I guess. But we didn’t lose that much this season, for example only 6 losses in the league. Spurs, ManU and Chelsea have 8 losses each already. We just had far too many draws in the league, but in the FA Cup, if it doesn’t work out today for whatever reason, just take the draw and beat them at home with Auba returning.
However, I am very positive that we will win today. 🙂
Yep, this is the last round that draws go to replays. The next round, it’s extra time and penalties.
