Report: Robbie Burton to join Dinamo Zagreb

It is being reported in the Croatian press that Arsenal youngster Robbie Burton is set to sign for Dinamo Zagreb.

The 20 year old midfielder was part of the club’s summer tour to the US in 2019, playing well in some of the games, but never made the step up to first team action during the 2019-20 season.

He was on the bench for the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest in September, but remained there as the Gunners ran out 5-1 winners.

With the likes of Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos ahead of him in the pecking order, it was always going to be difficult for him to make the breakthrough at senior level.

The transfer is a permanent one, not a loan, and it’s an interesting move for a young English Welsh player to make at this point of his career.

Good luck to him, let’s hope that is rewarded, and he can build his career from here.

I believe he’s Welsh blogs!

Tidy player, best of luck to him. A good move.

Well he was born in England, so correct the first time.

Olivije Žirod

I had high hopes for him. Very intelligent player who should have got more chances in the first team.

Prakhar

I was looking forward to some appearances this season from him. Too bad. I hope we got a buy-back clause if he proves to be good.

Berlingoon

Hope we either have a buy back clause or some kind of clause that we participate on fees that are generated by Zagreb. Thought he looked quite good when I watched him. Had a bit similarities to Jack at that age, I thoughtZ

The Voice of the Noise

Perhaps hoping he can do a Dani Olmo there?
Wish him well, Dinamo Zagreb is a great club for younger players to develop. Hope we’ll see him again one day.

A move to Zagreb might suit Burton… I’ll get my coat

Richie

I thought the European transfer window was closed until the summer. Any rumoured fee?

Maky
