Arsenal face another tricky Premier League clash this evening, facing Leicester at the Emirates, kick off 20.15.

Kola must be doing something to keep starting ahead of Rob. Maybe just more fit? Would feel a lot more comfortable with Rob in his place as he’s a bit more mobile

There’s something to be said about the idea of a stable defensive system that’s working. Holding is a better passer than kola, but this system and player combination seems to be working.
one thing for certain is that he is left footed and Arteta seem to like having opposite footed centerbacks (see pablo mari). It might help that Kola is techincally a left back too so he is more flexible to cover Tierny in a counter attack

He was poor on the ball vs. Wolves but he was good defensively. He’s quite the presence in that area when the opponent has the ball, and that has apparently been valued over better passing for this game.
There is also the ability to shift between a 3 man and 4 man back line this way if the game dictates.
And let’s not forget Holding hasn’t been actively starting for us much for quite some time. He was really just getting up to speed when the hole in the year appeared.
I don’t know for sure, but I get the sense that most coaches when selecting a back three like to mix in a full back…maybe too add a little more cover ad depth as opposed to three similarly profiled defenders.

The work rate of Ceballos in midfield has improved dramatically. He is doing the dirty work, holding the ball, and helping the attack. Amazing!!
