The uncertainty surrounding Folarin Balogun’s future has been a persistent theme throughout the transfer window and now, as the deadline approaches, we are seemingly no closer to knowing whether the striker will stay at the club.
There has been a notable change of late, however, with Balogun having trained with Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad twice during the past couple of weeks, having previously been left out of involvement with the senior side.
Balogun has still yet to commit to a new contract and there is still a little while to wait to see whether he will be at Arsenal for the first half of the season at least, with the domestic transfer window not closing until October 16th.
The fact that the 19-year-old is now training with the first-team is at least a step in the right direction, and if he does stay it is hoped that Balogun could perhaps be involved in the Europa League, especially with twelve players now permitted to be named as substitutes in that competition.
At times in the early weeks of the campaign Balogun has appeared a little distracted by his situation, but if he remains at the club once the deadline passes he should be rather more focused and ready to make a major impact at that level.
The ideal situation would have been for Balogun to sign a new deal and head out on loan, but there is still an anxious wait to see whether he will remain.

Alex, this is a joke. Johnny is well aware that Balogun is indeed a striker however in light of the fact that we are really short of creative central midfielders Johnny jokingly asks the forum if Balogun is any good at CM. Because, well, you never know! ?

I think the best way to get to understand “the” frog better would be spend some time with it, to get to know it a bit better, observation, active listening, you know. Cutting its guts open is a bit crude. Understanding “frogs” better? Well that’s another story.

Perhaps the fact that no decent club was in for him will bring him down to earth. It takes time and patience to make the first team at Arsenal, he needs to put in the hard yards, not sulk and throw his toys out of the pram. The same goes for Guendouzi.

Yeah, when he was a baby. Spent years in our academy too, so I see nothing wrong with claiming him.
Good news as like you said, step in the right direction. I hope he signs an extension and he gets some games this season. With Laca not in contract talks and Eddie still learning, Balogun is a different kind of striker to both of them and could be valuable for us. Let’s hope it works out!

Balogun has constantly delivered so far and he should get a chance in the cups at least. If he fails miserably, then fair enough, but it would be bad to lsoe such a talent for not trying him out.
Nelson has stalled a little and a loan might be right.
At this point, it is increasingly evident that we are not going to sign anyone. I do not know how well Balogun plays, or how good a player this is, but hark back to last season when Saka kept up for a bit waiting to sign his new contract. For all we know Balogun could be bang average later on, but he will hold out and have everyone panicking over a new Gnabry situation.
