Balogun becoming increasingly involved in first-team training

27

The uncertainty surrounding Folarin Balogun’s future has been a persistent theme throughout the transfer window and now, as the deadline approaches, we are seemingly no closer to knowing whether the striker will stay at the club.

There has been a notable change of late, however, with Balogun having trained with Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad twice during the past couple of weeks, having previously been left out of involvement with the senior side.

Balogun has still yet to commit to a new contract and there is still a little while to wait to see whether he will be at Arsenal for the first half of the season at least, with the domestic transfer window not closing until October 16th.

The fact that the 19-year-old is now training with the first-team is at least a step in the right direction, and if he does stay it is hoped that Balogun could perhaps be involved in the Europa League, especially with twelve players now permitted to be named as substitutes in that competition.

At times in the early weeks of the campaign Balogun has appeared a little distracted by his situation, but if he remains at the club once the deadline passes he should be rather more focused and ready to make a major impact at that level.

The ideal situation would have been for Balogun to sign a new deal and head out on loan, but there is still an anxious wait to see whether he will remain.

How is he at CM?

fineas

bad ig

AlexP

CM? Do you even know the position he plays? Seriously one has to wonder, how much or should I say how little you actually know about players outside of the starting 11?

Simp for Arteta

I’ll take joke went over your head for $250 Alex

Pete

Rhetorical question mate.

Licor de Avellanas

Alex, this is a joke. Johnny is well aware that Balogun is indeed a striker however in light of the fact that we are really short of creative central midfielders Johnny jokingly asks the forum if Balogun is any good at CM. Because, well, you never know! ?

Have a nice evening ?

I think the best way to get to understand “the” frog better would be spend some time with it, to get to know it a bit better, observation, active listening, you know. Cutting its guts open is a bit crude. Understanding “frogs” better? Well that’s another story.

Medium Mozart

Wait… before we start cutting the frog up, do we know whether it can play CM?!

goonerrah

Alex has tricked you… you fell for it mate

Johnny 4 Hats

This is either super dry humour or a bit embarrassing mate. I hope the former but presume the latter…

Comedian

Lol Alex… Aou ar you doing?

goonerrah

Either you are a brilliant troll or a complete genius

ArsenesLongSufferingZipper

Easy man. How hard is it to see this for the joke it clearly is, given our ongoing Partey/Aouar transfer saga?

Vonnie

Perhaps the fact that no decent club was in for him will bring him down to earth. It takes time and patience to make the first team at Arsenal, he needs to put in the hard yards, not sulk and throw his toys out of the pram. The same goes for Guendouzi.

goonerrah

Name an Arsenal player that has been top class that came from the Academy in the last 10 years?

Gnabry left and is a star. I don’t blame him.

Frank Bascombe

How’s Saka for you?

Bfg

Bellerin

Johan

Bellerin came from la masia, no?

Tasmanian Jesus

Yeah, when he was a baby. Spent years in our academy too, so I see nothing wrong with claiming him.

SantaClausola

Good news as like you said, step in the right direction. I hope he signs an extension and he gets some games this season. With Laca not in contract talks and Eddie still learning, Balogun is a different kind of striker to both of them and could be valuable for us. Let’s hope it works out!

Our very own Mbappe through the rise

Santori

Why Balogun when he barely gives Nelson a shout.

And Saliba now rumoured to go out again.

karl

Balogun has constantly delivered so far and he should get a chance in the cups at least. If he fails miserably, then fair enough, but it would be bad to lsoe such a talent for not trying him out.

Nelson has stalled a little and a loan might be right.

MumbaiGooner

At this point, it is increasingly evident that we are not going to sign anyone. I do not know how well Balogun plays, or how good a player this is, but hark back to last season when Saka kept up for a bit waiting to sign his new contract. For all we know Balogun could be bang average later on, but he will hold out and have everyone panicking over a new Gnabry situation. The situation that this transfer window has left Arsenal in only serves to consolidate the positions of the agents, the players and the selling teams come… Read more »

Wow!!! This is great news ?…

Teryima Adi

The lad seems to be full of potential. It’s left for the board to the the needful by convincing him to commit to the red side of London.
