Katie McCabe signed a new Arsenal contract earlier this week to the delight of Arsenal fans. The Irish international put pen to paper after a stunning season that has seen her notch 12 assists and four goals from left-back.
In an interview with Arseblog News in December, McCabe admitted that she thought her spell at Arsenal had come to an end at the point that Joe Montemurro arrived in November 2017. Now Joe Montemurro is leaving after next weekend’s FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace, so what is the next step for Katie as she contemplates life under a new coach?
Every. Single. Assist. 🤤

“These are the challenges for professional footballers, there are going to be changes and there are going to be differences,” Joe Montemurro told Arseblog News on Friday. “I just hope that she continues to use her base attitude and work ethic and that base desire she has to get better and better.
“She is already the captain of her country but I think she will be a real leader at this club she will certainly be part of the leadership group going forward and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if one day she becomes the captain of Arsenal.”
I can totally see Katie McCabe as a future Arsenal Women captain, but if this is a way of hinting that Kim Little is leaving…just shoot me now.
Presumably if Kim did leave Jordan might have something to say about the captaincy?
Kim isn’t leaving, don’t worry 🙂
Thanks, Tim! I needed that.
Putting Katie forward as a future captain clearly shows JM’s dismissal of Jordan, who, when Kim hangs up her boots, would I believe be seen as the natural successor.
Something is not right in the Jordan, JM relationship, if JM had not resigned I firmly believe Jordan would have been seeking a transfer.
