Auba: It’s good for the team’s confidence

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got off the mark for the season with a hat-trick as Arsenal cruised to a 6-0 win over West Brom in the Carabao Cup.

After the match, the captain chatted to Sky Sports. Here’s what he had to say.

On cruising to an easy win…

That’s a strange feeling. I’m just happy that today we won this game. It’s good for the confidence of the team, we know we had a tough start to the season but the only thing I can say is that the commitment of every player is always there 100 per cent. We tried to give our best to give the fans what they want; winning games.

On what the result does for the team…

As I said before, this hopefully can give us something to build out confidence for the next games. We know we have to work hard and try to keep pushing and try to get our first three points in the league.

On West Brom playing with a high line…

Everyone knows I like the space. I just took it today. I have to say that my teammates played very well, good balls in behind the defence. It was a good game today.

On his favourite goal…

The last one. It was special.

On what he does with his hat-trick match balls…

I keep them at home for my kids. I will try to get the signing of every player.

On if it can still be a good season for Arsenal…

Of course, we’ve only had two games, we have 36 left [in the league] so we try to give our best to give a good season. I think everyone deserves it because everyone is giving everything every day.

I like the commentator on Auba’s second goal
He said “the post denied Pepe but nothing denies Auba”

Good to see the dude back amongst the goals.

A confidence booster for the team. Well done lads even though u played a youthful Albion team there is still a lot of work to be done. We have not cross the line yet but a win over city will define our team just as last season win over Chelsea change the course of our season.

He seems to have his hunger back

It’s gonna be a difficult season. Just enjoy the wins no matter the opposition and their age/experience. Good to see Arsenal score 6 in a single match. Haven’t seen that for a while.

Glad to see Aubameyang banging in the goals again. That’ll definitely boost his confidence going into the City game.

We should have won comfortably tonight, against a very weak West Brom team, that made 11 changes from the weekend We were weakened against Chelsea, which is a tough game, I’m not surprised we lost and outclassed, it’s a tough enough game when we’ve got close to our first choice 11 We should have done better against Brentford, but there were mitigating factors on why we lost, it’s disappointing, but some of the hysteria has been embarrassing. We’re capable of a smash + grab at City, but we’ve taken 2 points off them since Dec 2015, they’re a much better… Read more »

Have to say, that was prime Auba. He was fast, smart in his runs, always at the right places, and 100% sharp on his technique. (Got unlucky with the chip hitting the keeper’s toupee).

Cool, because next up is Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls. Oh, wait, it’s a hungry City. The wild swings on here from elation over a win over a weak side to a funeral dirge (too often lately) is maddening. They beat a patsy. We’ll see what is up Sunday.

Why is it maddening for people to find positivity and happiness in a win? What are you even here for?

Good to see Aubameyang banging in the goals again. That’ll boost his confidence ahead of the next game.

Mm…great minds think alike…?

36 games left!! Does that mean he is staying?

That last question was so stupid!

Atleast I have reason to come back here and read the fans comments. Great game it was
