Arsenal back on TV for Carabao Cup clash with Leeds

Arsenal’s Carabao Cup fourth round clash with Leeds United will be broadcast by Sky Sports on 26 October.

Confirmation that cameras will be in place will be welcomed by Gunners fans who found themselves in the unusual situation of not being able to watch Wednesday’s 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on TV or via a stream because it clashed with other more high profile matches.

The showdown with Marcelo Bielsa’s side at the Emirates will fall between a Friday night home encounter with Aston Villa and an away trip to Leicester City.

Arsenal haven’t faced Leeds United in the League Cup since 1979. After a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, we beat them 7-0 at Highbury. A repeat of that result would be fun.

Jeez. Fourth round? Haven’t we already played about 17 games in this thing?

Some teams I think we just don’t fair well against because of the way they set up. I’m thinking of Wolves, Villa, Brighton.

But Leeds always feel like their style sort of compliments our style. We both just go for it and the one with the most goals tends to win. In fact, always wins. Because that’s how football works.

Should be a good game.

Someone just needs to beat City. I want us to win this Mickey mouse cup.

Less of the ‘Mickey Mouse.’ The League Cup has a rich history in football, including our own history. Two final defeats in the late 60’s gave birth to the determination that resulted in the European Fairs Cup win in 1970 and the League and FA Cup Double in 1971. Our semifinal win against Spurs in 1987 and our final victory over Liverpool was the birth of modern Arsenal. The final defeat of 1988 galvanised the team to win the League title the following year. Then in 1993, it was part of a unique double as we became the first side… Read more »

Ray Parlour games

I used to like the ‘you play we play’ match ups as they favoured our superior quality, now they are more evenly contested. I thought we were very lucky to get away with a draw against Leeds last season when Pepe was sent off, at home we swept them away, they can be wide open sometimes playing man for man. while I was impressed with them when we played them in the Emirates under Emery they played us off the park in the first half when they were still a championship team. Bielsa is a one off and such a… Read more »

Azeez Is Good

Bielsa is the Paul Scholes of management. Remember when people said that Scholes is the best player in the world. And everyone else (except Zidane being humble) knew it was Zidane. But people liked saying it because it made them seem like they didn’t go for the obvious option, so it stuck.

Bielsa is a good manager. He’s done a good job. But he’s clearly not one of the best, despite everyone like Pep trying to be contrary and saying he is.

A Different George

No one in the world outside England ever thought Paul Scholes was the best player in the world. Xavi said some nice things about Scholes, but I think that was mainly because Zidane was at Real.

Henry was the best player in the world then – and yes, he was better than Zidane.

Leeds is a bitch, d’eres no exscaping it!

Home advantage should see us through.

It should…….

Highbury; someone wake me up before it’s all over.

Qwaliteee

Highbury is now but two listed buildings in streets where cars slip silently by.

Hold on to those memories, if you were fortunate enough to create them.

Gabigol

This will be a very interesting game tactically.

Usually Mikel always tries some innovative never seen before setup against his peers.

How he deals with the full pitch man to man marking of Leeds will be very interesting to watch.

Especially as our first 11 seems more settled.

Gabigol

Hope to see a really attacking lineup!

Against Leeds in the cup, or on Sunday against Sp*ds?

I’m all for playing a strong team in the cup but I can’t see it being the full first 11 against Leeds.

I was at the 1979 7-0 🙂 upper West I think, was before we had season tickets in lower east 🙂 fun night. With Dad, rip.

My condolences to you my friend, I hope he is still watching the Arsenal somewhere. Hold those memories dear.
