Arsenal take on Aston Villa at the Emirates this evening, looking for better than just the single point we earned from the draw with Crystal Palace on Monday.
Here are the official line-ups.
Arsenal: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tavares, Lokonga, Partey, Saka, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Aston Villa: Martinez, Konsa, Tuanzebe, Mings, Cash, Luiz, McGinn, Targett, Buendia, Ings, Watkins
Subs: Steer, Hause, Young, Nakamba, Sanson, Ramsey, El Ghazi, Bailey, Archer
COYG!
JAMES IS ON THE TELLY!!!!!!
So proud….!
Win, lose, or nuclear annihilation, this is the highlight of my evening
Genuinely proud, He deserves to be in that pundit box. Such an articulate and thoughtful young man.
And shout out to ASMR Clive as well.
*Jamie Carragher gets passed a compilation of James taking the piss out of his accent*
“He never steps foot in a Sky studio again”.
Imagine if he’d done a magpie fact…
I hope he gobbed on JC after…
coyg! lets start the weekend off right!
Lacs no 10?
Nah, Auba on LW. ESR #10.
Interesting selections. Playing it safe with Tierney. I think he could use a rest. Not a bad balance, but it will certainly change our dynamic as we’re most certainly not setup for possession football down the left (for a change). Don’t mind that. Should be a bit less predictable (I hope…gulp).
I lacca at 10
I like the line up. Lacazette rewarded, Tierney benched rightly as he needs to find that spark, those runs to the bye line weren’t happening…. Saka back to right and a proper midfield pivot of Partey and Lokonga….. COYG!!
Tierney not in the squad
Oh, I didn’t take note of the bench…. Hope he’s well
Tierney doesn’t deserve to be benched. Arteta just needs to develop an alternative attacking outlet other than a LB that overlaps all game long.
Hoping Laca can inspire some extra fire. He looked like he was just about at the boil on Monday!
COYG
Lokonga starting worries me. Dont think he is ready for premier league football. Would have preferred Elneny starting. Hope he proves me wrong though.
COYG
Elneny belongs to the past. Lokonga needs games to be “ready for Premier League football.”
I’m with you on Lokonga 100%, the only problem is that Elneny is way worse. :/
Agree that Lokonga is worrying, but he needs the minutes and is one for the future so rather him than Elneny.
Glad to see Saka is ok.
I hope he is ok!
I like it?
I like your question?
need a win and a good performance, let’s go get the 3 points bois
COYG 🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴
Arteta is making some big calls lately, fingers crossed
Big but wrong let’s hope it works out
Not too shabby?
COYG!!!! Looks like a 4-4-2 with saka right and ESR left. I like I like now let’s rip them up!!! AS much as I always loved Martinez I would love to see him have a dreadfull game along with the rest of their team. They lost 2 in a row so let’s give them a hat trick!!!!
Tierney is not even on the bench? I hope he’s not injured. I know he hasn’t been at his best lately but he’s still a class act. Good to see Saka back.
KT needs a break. He has been looking knackered lately.
bruised ankle says the twitter handle for kt let’s hope he comes back better
I like a lot.
Odegaard off
I respect Tierney, but I feel like his offensive contribution has been limited to run down the line with his down, turns around passes back, or gives a cross without looking if somewhere is there?
The option gets over used, which makes it easier to predict and control. Teams know its coming. The way to fix the problem is the vary our attacking pathways.
COYG!
In other news, Mike Dean has been relieved of refereeing duties this weekend.
THis is actually bad news, “this weekend” and not forever.
Let’s hope it all goes downhill for him from here.
The Villa games have not been kind to us since Arteta arrived. Let’s hope we can get something out of this game. Think it will finish 1-1 with 8 Thomas Partey shots going wide from outside the box.
4-4-2, baby! Let’s go!
Am I the only one dreading this match (and every other match). Please Arteta, prove me wrong!
Thank you for proving me wrong! What a performance!
For “fluffs” sake give Martinelli a run out !!! Poor Saka “Boss I’ve broken my leg my arm and my head’s fallen off” Don’t worry Bukayo I’ll get you off for last ten mins !!!
Is it just me ??? #RememberJack
Saka? Wut?
Give the kid a break.
This feels like Arteta’s desperate after the criticism last week.
Saka’s Arsenal career has to take precedence over Arteta’s.
Just to clarify – not like McArthur was trying to give him a break.
Protect our Bukayo, for crissakes.
Kolasinac still making the bench? ffs!
That’s how he’s got the biceps.
Fingers crossed for Taveres and Lokonga. They are definitely going to be targeted by Villa. The changes make good sense though. Come on Laka and GOYG!
Hope we score a shed load passed Martinez 🤞
Lol whoever downvoted this has got their priorities seriously fucked up
😂we’ll put it down to a slip of the finger
Let’s hope Emi has slippy fingers in the 2nd half
That has to be my biggest disappointment in Saka since he started playing for Arsenal ! How in the world did he waste that chance?!
Profound half of football from the Arsenal. Should have been 3 or 4 (Saka should have buried that), but Villa without even an attempt on target and three yellow cards in frustration, and their manager looking utterly clueless. With some better passes and better finishing, I think you get a sense here of the kind of football Arteta wants to play. Dominant.
Dont know about others, but I’m enjoying Emi making two food saves but letting in two goals. The lad needs some shutting up.
We really need to consider renewing Lacazette’s contract. We do not have anyone that can play like him on the team. His contribution and style is very unique
Either that or we buy someone that can play like he does. But that might be easier said than done.
His game lets the young lads run riot
