Arsenal Women will play at home to Chelsea Women in the FA Cup semi-finals. The teams will play at Meadow Park on Sunday, 17th April.
It will be a repeat of the 2021 Final in which the Gunners went down 3-0 at Wembley in a poor display. The two sides are embroiled in a fight for the league title too, with Chelsea two points behind Jonas Eidevall’s side at the top of the WSL but with a game in hand.
Arsenal have lost their last three FA Cup ties against Chelsea in the finals of 2021 and 2018 while they also fell to a 5th round exit away at Emma Hayes’ side in 2019. Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the final the last time they won the competition in 2016.
The other semi-final sees Manchester City play West Ham. Arsenal are the record winners of the tournament with 14 FA Cup triumphs but they are now three years without a trophy and will be keen to change that one way or another this season.
It’s about time we beat those Chelsea girls. COYG!!
Went to both of those finals, both painfully disappointing especially last season when they basically didn’t turn up.
Really hope that they get the bit between their teeth and really go for it this time. A nice league and cup double over ch*lsea sounds about right 😁
It certainly does!!
To win the FA Cup we need to beat Chelsea and City (much as I’d like it to be West Ham). We’ve already done that this season in matches without Rafa and Stina, so let’s be positive!
The next nine days will be so big. I’m going to all three games – expecting to be a nervous, and physical, wreck at the end of it!
I like this draw. We will no longer have to play them in the final.
