Arsenal Youth preview – U23s finish season against Leeds

Arsenal U23s will be in action for the final time this season when they take on their Leeds United counterparts at Emirates Stadium tonight.

The game, which kicks off at 7pm, will be shown live on arsenal.com and will bring the curtain down on what has been an encouraging season of progression for the U23s.

Although it has not been completely plain sailing, Arsenal have still fared considerably better than they did last season, when they narrowly avoided relegation to the second tier of Premier League 2.

The development of players such as Omari Hutchinson, Marcelo Flores and Reuell Walters has been exciting to watch and overall the appointment of Kevin Betsy as coach to replace Steve Bould certainly seems to have been the correct one.

Arsenal missed out on winning the league title this season and the highest that they can now finish is third place.

Tonight they will be up against a Leeds side that are battling to stay up, which will give an extra edge to proceedings.

There are some very talented players in the Leeds setup, including 16-year-old midfielder Archie Gray, who has already been named on the bench in the Premier League.

As far as Arsenal are concerned, Walters is back in the squad after missing out last week due to illness, while Marcelo Flores could be involved after making his second senior appearance for Mexico this week.

It would be a quick turnaround for Flores as he only played for Mexico in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Bryan

He actually ended up scoring our only goal
