The Athletic’s David Ornstein is reporting (£) that Manchester United and Arsenal have agreed a deal for Nikita Parris to join United. The England winger joined the club from Lyon last summer.
It’s been well reported that United were interested in Parris, while I am told Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in the player. Parris joined the club for a club record transfer fee from Lyon last summer.
However, Parris, who was signed prior to the appointment of coach Jonas Eidevall last summer and has struggled to fit into Eidevall’s high pressing style, which asks for wingers to stretch the pitch and take on their full-backs, while Parris operates much more like a wide striker who likes to make off-ball runs into the area.

Parris found minutes difficult to come by, especially due to the form of Beth Mead on the right wing. She only started one of Arsenal’s last 13 games and managed one WSL goal- a penalty in the final home game of the season.
With a World Cup next summer and the England team boasting wide forwards like Beth Mead, Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp, Parris is keen to move and play more regular football. Arsenal also tried to sign Brazilian wide forward Geyse Ferreira earlier this summer.
With Parris joining Heath out of the Arsenal exit door, a wide-forward will be a priority in the transfer market. David Ornstein reports that personal terms are agreed between Parris and United. The transfer will attract a fee and my understanding is that Arsenal plan on replacing her with another right-sided forward.

To be fair is a good move to her, also Jordan Nobbs have to do the same otherwise she is not goin to catch Sarina Wiegman’s eye for the world cup, the competence for a spot in the Lionesses midfield is fierce. Good luck to Nikita.

We already have the run-into-space player in Blackstenius. Foord and Mead can also cut in and shoot.
I am actually looking more at a really technical player who can play both on the wing and centrally to help with chance creation.
What we’ll get is a direct wide player who runs at full-backs and takes them on. This is exactly what Jonas wants in his wingers. There are some Scandinavian options on the market in this respect.

Thought of Rölfo straightaway, but doubt she is available. In any case, would also prefer a younger player to come in.

Her situation is Pepe-esque. Record signing, wide right player who doesn’t fit into the team’s style of play and coming to the club from France. Obviously very talented. It’s a shame. I would rather she didn’t go to United but at least it’s not City or Chelsea who are the real competition. With United not being as technically capable they could utilise her in a counter attacking style, which would suit her game.
Could that right-sided forward be BK Häcken’s Swedish international Johanna Rytting Kaneryd? She seems to be a good dribbler and her contract is expiring soon.
