Arsenal defender Simone Boye will leave the club for Swedish club Hammarsby. The Danish international joined from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021 on a one-year deal.
Boye has found it difficult to break into the team with Leah Williamson, Lotte Wubben-Moy and Jen Beattie in the squad and Rafaelle added in January. Boye hasn’t played since the FA Cup quarter-final against Coventry United.
Boye had previously worked under coach Jonas Eidevall at Rosengard and was brought in more or less to smooth things over until Arsenal could recruit Rafaelle in January, when her contract with Changchun Zhuouye expired.
30-year-old Boye is a key player in the Danish defence and is currently representing her country at this summer’s European Championships.
Was Boye aware at the time that she was only bought in as a stop gap?
Only having a one year deal may have given her a clue!
Peter, have you been watching any of the Euros ?
No not really. I don’t generally do internationals.
I accidentally caught half an hour of France vs Belgium and have watched the highlights of the Beth Mead shows but that’s about it.
Not sure of the connection to Simone only receiving a one year contract though?
When I see Hammarsby play this Fall, I will have heard of one of the players now!
To be picky, it is “Hammarby”, not “Hammarsby”. At certain occassions they have quite some support: https://youtu.be/KEAXl3euchk
To be picky…he got it correct in the header…
Good luck Simone. Thank you for your service to our club.
