Arteta issues fitness update ahead of Fulham clash

Reiss Nelson is Arsenal’s only injury concern heading into tomorrow’s match with Fulham.

The winger picked up a muscular injury on the eve of the new season and despite hinting on social media that he’s back on the pitch, remains sidelined for the time being.

Facing the press on Friday morning, Arteta said: “Everybody has trained this week and everybody is fine apart from Reiss who you know has been injured for a few weeks now.”

He added: “The mood is really good, the energy is really good, the boys trained exceptionally well again this week and we’re looking for another good performance and the right win.”

It remains to be seen whether Nelson is in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the season. The 22-year-old is a long way down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium and has been widely tipped to leave the club.

That said, with Nicolas Pepe joining Nice on loan for the year, it’s possible he could provide competition to Bukayo Saka if a replacement isn’t signed before the window closes.

9 games in october, sure there will be some strains after that period

utk v

Yes, we simply need a winger. Also it’d help greatly if AMN and Hector leave

Russ

Same team again tomorrow?

Nainsley Aitland Miles

Absolutely yes.
Rotation can start when we begin the Europa League.

Russ

Yes, think the same though I bet everyone else is itching to get some minutes

Boydy

Rotation can start on Wednesday when we are in the middle of 3 games in 9 days 🙂

ArsenesLongSufferingZipper

Rotation can start tomorrow when we’re 4 nil up at half time.

Vieraera

Why fix it if it’s not broken?

Russ

Totally agree but just thinking of other players getting minutes and us still winning. But as everyone else has said, lots and lots of minutes to be played coming up shortly 👍

Tapps

Depending on how he’s looking in training, I’d replace Saka with Vieira. Just a short, sharp shock to Bukayo not to rest on his laurels.

Onenil

You think Saka needs punishing? Seems harsh.

Baz

Can’t say Saka has been great. Although he hasn’t been bad either. Scored a goal against Palace, but really was just a cross, or bad shot. He has been a bit underwhelming so far considering the bright start some of the other players have made. I’d be keen to see Viera in his place.

Moxrex

I would say it in a different way. Don’t burn the poor lad for being brilliant. Give him a rest and unleash him and ESR on Sp*rs

Man Manny

“12 points from 4 games” sounds good to the ears.

Sins

I know it’s early but is anyone else thinking this team could prove to be as good as fergie class of 91? I’m not saying winning everything consistently, as standards are much higher now but certainly being in with a genuine shout?

Up4GrabsNow!

I’d prefer the George Graham Class of ’89

Tapps

I said exactly this 2 years ago!

Niks

Not a platter though

Goonerman

God i hope we bomb out of Europa early, it’s all about the EPL this season. COYG

Goonerman

Drop Saka? I hope you’re joking. He has been central to so many goals this season, even though he’s yet to find his full form.
Not far off…
