Confirmed: Brooke Norton-Cuffy joins Rotherham on loan

Arsenal have confirmed that Brooke Norton-Cuffy will spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Rotherham United.

The 18-year-old right-back, who impressed on loan at Lincoln City last season and was a member of the England under-19s that won this summer’s Euros, moves to the New York Stadium just weeks after committing his long-term future to the Gunners.

The Millers, who were promoted to the Championship having come second in League One last season, have done well to seal the signing of Norton-Cuffy. Last week, the teenager’s agent revealed there was interest from seven other clubs.

We’re assuming the fact Rotherham took Jordi Osei-Tutu on a six-month loan in January helped their cause. The right-back played 16 matches, scored in the final of the EFL Trophy and subsequently secured a move to German side Bochum.

Rotherham also have two ex-Gunner left-backs on their books in Cohen Bramall and Tolaji Bola.

Norton-Cuffy will wear the number 10 shirt and has been signed in time to take part in tomorrow’s Carabao Cup match against Morecambe.

Best of luck to Brooke for the year ahead.

Wow. One to keep an eye on. Congratulations to him as I think he will get plenty of game time.

Onenil

Good luck in Yorkshire B NC

Looking forward to seeing how this chap turns out. Looks very promising.

Rocastle07

That is so weird a right back wearing the number 10 shirt.
All the best would love a academy lad to be ready to challenge Tomi next year

2highbury

Brilliant news but he will be tired from travelling to New York and then Rotherham every week.

Scwibble

He’s the heir to the Cedric replacement 🙏

Eric Blair

Good move, have high hopes for this one.

Man Manny

Another Salibasque entry into the first team in the making. I can sense it.

Vaibhav

Maybe we will pick whiskey for the song 😜

Arsemouth

Come back stronger, there’s definitely a space for him when Cedric’s contract is up.

Naked Cygan

With social media and constant media attention we put too much pressure on these young players. We have to give them time, let them grow and make mistakes. We overhyped them so much and put unnecessary pressure on them when they just need guidance and support. Even with Saka, Martinelli, Odegard, end ESR we forget how young they are.

Graham

We? I’m not putting any pressure on the lad and I remember how old he is.

Nwobodo Fortune

I’m very happy for him.
He’s an amazing talent. I do wish a little that he went to France because I mean, look at Saliba…
But I feel certain that this loan will be excellent for him.
I look forward to seeing him integrate into our first team next year.

Balogun and Tavares are doing ok in France, so yeah, good point, but I think Brooke will do fine, he’s a big strong lad. Great move for him.

Krumphax

I think another country would be too much at his age. I think they want to keep him near and watch over him more, because he has a very good chance to make it at a poisition he could very well take over like Bellerin once did.

John

There’s nothing better than being in a team who play in red shirts with white sleeves. Wish the lad well, he looks like a good player.

Kiwamya

Agreed, let’s get some lads out to Fleetwood (playing at Highbury) and Braga too

Der32

Brooke Norton Cafu. Good luck in the Championship and hope to see you wearing red & white in North London again!

Merlin’s Panini

He’s creating a buzz. With him and Charlie Patino we have two players likely destined for the first team. Hopefully Balogun gets plenty more playing time and keeps up his good start in France too. He was far too good for U21 football but didn’t kick on as well as I’d hoped at Middlesbrough. I think he can boss the French league and it’ll do his confidence a world of good.

Teryima Adi

He’s sure going to be their Diego Maradona with that 10 shirt😄.
Good luck, son
