Report: Pablo Mari stabbed in Milan attack

According to various reports coming out of Italy this evening, on loan Arsenal defender Pablo Mari is one of five individuals to have been stabbed in an attack in a Carrefour supermarket in Milan.

One person has died as a result and the assailant, a 46-year-old man, has been arrested. The motive for the attack is not clear.

The centre-back and his family live in the city which is not far from Monza where he is playing his club football for the season.

Only this morning, the Spanish paper AS published an interview with Pablo where he spoke about how much he’s enjoying life in Milan.

“We are very happy, Milan is wonderful, we have a thousand things to do every day, my son at school is super happy…living in Milan we like it a lot,” he said.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims Pablo is conscious and able to speak after being transferred by helicopter to the Niguardo hospital. Apparently, his wife and son were with him at the time of the attack but are uninjured.

Speaking to Italian station TG2 RAI, Monza CEO Adriano Galliani confirmed details of Pablo’s injury.

“Pablo Mari has quite a deep cut to his back, but fortunately it did not reach any vital organs like the lungs or anything else. His life is not in danger, he should recover quickly. He has some lesions, but not very serious. He is conscious and getting stitches.”

In a message on the club’s social media, he added: “Dear Pablo, we are all here close to you and your family, we love you, keep fighting as you know how to do, you are a warrior and you will get well soon.”

Arsenal have since released the following statement: “We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan centre-back Pablo Mari. We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent who has told us he’s in hospital and is not seriously hurt. Our thoughts are with Pablo and the other victims of this dreadful incident.”

We can only hope that he and all the others affected by this incident make swift recoveries.

FFS.

Let’s all unite and wish the lad – and all the other victims, as speedy a recovery as possible.

I duly hope the fucking animals responsible will be rounded up and dealt with properly.

Bleeding gums murphy

It’s being reported he is conscious. It’s another shocking attack. Hope no more victims die.

Lord Bendnter

There’s a Carrefour in Milan??

arseblog

Yeah, that’s the main talking point here all right …

Livingstone

All the best, Pablo.Hope the attacker was arrested and charged.

SarcasmB0T

Jesus fucking Christ. Speedy recovery, man.

wrightstuff8

How utterly horrific. Thoughts are with you Pablo. Get well soon

Grim. Hope it’s not too serious as so far it seems. But someone has died. Some truly dark humans exist. <3

Paul Smith

This is awful. Hope he and anyone else injured recover quickly.

Heisenbird

Tonight’s result be damned, this really puts things into perspective. I hope he makes a speedy recovery and his wife and child get the appropriate support after such a traumatic incident.

Tankard Gooner

Fuck today’s game. This takes precedence. First, hope he’s okay. Second, whoever did this, I have no sense of remorse for you. Whatever terrible punishment you get, you deserve a thousand times worse.

Good grief, what a shocking headline and story to read.
RIP to the poor soul who has lost their life and hopefully full recoveries to all the others involved.

Pablo, doubt you read these comments but maybe more likely with a bit of time to recover, be well and get well soon. Thoughts with you and others there. Traumatising for anyone and peace and love to all of you. X

Merlin’s Panini

Terrifying. I wish him a speedy recovery and a quick return to what he loves doing.
This will likely change how knives are displayed in shops. A potential offensive weapon should be either under lock and key or so difficultly packaged it can’t be opened in store.

Boy Bastin

Let’s hope he makes a speedy recovery from this terrible incident.

Olawale Olayemi

I’m glad Pablo is OK and I hope he recovers quickly in his body and in his head and in his heart. If this was a certain country, the assailant would probably have had access to an assault rifle and more people would have been dead and injured.

Oddo

Bless him. His poor child to have witnessed that.

Speedy recovery.

Slam the monsters who did it in prison and let them rot.
