Gabriel Jesus scored his first goal for Arsenal since the North London derby on October 1st when he put the Gunners ahead from the penalty spot in the first half of today’s 4-1 win over Leeds.
The Brazilian doubled his tally on the day in the second half, starting and finishing a beautiful combination move with Leandro Trossard, before making way on the hour mark as he continues to build his match fitness.
You would think he’d be eager to talk up his contribution, but afterwards he insisted the three points earned by the team were of far more weight than his goals.
Asked about the gap between his most recent goals and his last one, he said, “I feel good. Always in my career I’ve have some bad period, but I’m here to learn and to fix it, and to try and help.
“I want to score every game, if you ask me I want to score but sometimes, you know, it doesn’t happen.
“But more important is the three points, than the goals. So congratulations to the team.”
Arsenal’s goal difference now stands at +43 with City on +45, and the former Man City man was asked if this was something the team took into consideration.
“Of course, to compete against a strong opponent who score a lot of goals is not easy, so we look at this,” he said.
“We think more about the points than goal difference, but when you have the chance you have to try and score the goals.”
And today, he played his part in that.
I love Jesus
And Jesus lives you
It’s so great that we have a team of team-players and that they are all so fantastic. welcome back to the goal-board Mr Gabriel Jesus!!!! All the hard work is very much appreciated
Anfield here we come. They have another game away at Chelsea on Tuesday before entertaining us. It should be cracker, and one we have a good chance of picking up all three points. If that happens, especially if Holding plays, the momentum generated could take us all the way to the title.
COYG!!!
Tough week for them, hopefully that tells
Been hoping for that as well. Hope they’re broken down and disheveled when they face us at the weekend. I just want 3 points and to move on.
I’d love for us to put 4 past them. Keep them goals coming
Watch those annoying scouse pricks play outa their skins against us, after capitulating like kittens at Citeh… we’ll still have ’em though. Nothing gonna stop this current Gun Battery!
Is he looking a bit porky? I felt he looked a bit leggy today.
Just imagine when he’s not…
That was all the strapping around his knee – which was just as well seeing how Ayling bloody kicked him right on it… my bloody heart stopped when I saw the replay.
Let’s enjoy 3 points today, big game coming up on a ground result & performance wise we’ve basically been ripped apart, i would be happy with a point on this fixture.q
