Kim Little out for the season Arsenal confirm

Arsenal midfielder Kim Little will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, Arsenal have confirmed, as Arseblog News reported in this article last weekArseblog News reported in this article last week.

Little went off after 10 minutes of the 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich last month and the injury has finished her campaign. A statement on Arsenal.com read, ‘We can confirm that Kim Little will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

‘Kim sustained the injury in our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final win over Bayern Munich on 29 March and tests have subsequently confirmed that the injury will keep her sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

’Our captain has already begun her rehabilitation and this process is progressing well. We expect her to be available for the start of preparations for the 2023/24 season.

.Our medical team will support Kim closely over the coming months and we look forward to seeing her back on the field of play soon.’

The injury means that Leah Williamson is likely to continue in central midfield.

The decision to play competitive football in the summer proved costly and no one can change my mind on that.

On the other hand, having her match fit and ready for the start of the season was a huge benefit. With hindsight, maybe she should have had a mini-break covering one of the international breaks.

Not sure this contributed to this injury at all given the length of time elapsed. But without that loan spell, it would have been 4 months off with no competitive football and think that would probably have been more dangerous for her, fitness wise, at this point of her career. When she rejoined the club in 2017, she hadn’t played for four months and did her ACL within three weeks of her return and think that was very much on her mind here.

And to think the ref didn’t even give that clear tackle as a foul, makes news like this more infuriating.

Hope the girls can continue to perform as they have in her absence so far. Such a shame regardless.

I am not surprised – I also expect Lia Walti to be unavailable for the rest of the season. I just hope that Leah can keep going because she looks knackered, too. Come on Jen, Lotte and Rafa! Teyah Goldie too. We’re relying on you. Somehow, Jonas will have to put together a new midfield in time for Wednesday.
Get better soon, Kimmy! Don’t push yourself too hard. Look forward to seeing you in September.

Any news on Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley. This would be a great time to get them back…

Henkamp

Oh no, What’s wrong with Walti?

That’s too many injuries now!

Fun Gunner

She’s taking time out to resolve personal issues.

The team tweeted out a photo of her today. Maybe she is back. Catley is back on the training pitch but not sure of her status….Need these two, for sure.

If Arsenal Women win anything else this season, it will be a minor miracle. It’s bad enough that Beth Mead and Viv Miedema are injured. Lia Walti may as well be injured at the same time as Kim Little, because she looks the best player on the pitch when she has Kim alongside her. They make a great team. When Kim is at her best, no-one can get the ball off her! She can smuggle the ball through midfield then make a great pass. Leah is a great passer from the back, but she seems to be at her best… Read more »

By the way, Tim, I saw the photo of Kim training and thought, yay, she’s back!
So now I hate you.

This is really bad news, l know we need to start learning how to live without her but its not a good time. The girls have done so well with all the key players that are unavailable but l think the squad is just too thin now and will probably struggle to stay 3rd. l hope lm proven wrong

SLC Gooner

Terrible injury luck this season. Just about all the key players bar Williamson. At this point while I’d like to see us advance in the CL, hanging on for 3rd seems like a big goal.

MartynJ

“All the key players bar Williamson” – you’ve clearly forgotten October and November. In any case, beat Man Utd this week, and 2nd would be almost certain. Beat Chelsea and…

And now we’ve lost her too

Kennington Gunner

Nooooooooooooo!

Simply put, in my opinion Kim Little is not only the best player in the WSL, but the best footballer in the world. However, we have shown very clearly that we have the squad, the motivation, the tactical nous and management to cope very well without 3 of our top players, along with a very special acting Captain in the form of Leah Williamson. We also have the superb Captain of Brazil, the crucial Captain of Switzerland, the feisty Captain of Ireland plus several other sensational squad players. Can we beat MU, Cheski and Wolfsburg without Kim? Absolutely Yes. Can… Read more »
