Norton-Cuffy set for busy end to the season

The season is almost over but Brooke Norton-Cuffy still has a lot to play for.

Norton-Cuffy’s immediate priority is the Championship play-off final, with his loan club Coventry City set to take on Luton Town at Wembley on Saturday.

Since joining Coventry on loan in January Norton-Cuffy has made 23 appearances, the vast majority of which have come as a right wing-back, and in the main he has given a good account of himself.

The opportunity to play at Wembley is an exciting one and if Coventry succeed in getting promoted to the Premier League then it wouldn’t be a major surprise if he was to return there on loan next season.

Immediately after Coventry’s commitments on Saturday are over Norton-Cuffy will head to Argentina, where he will be part of the England squad at the U20 World Cup.

Norton-Cuffy has missed the start of the tournament but it is hoped that he will still be able to play some part in the competition and achieve further international glory, having won the U19 European Championship last year.

The 19-year-old has yet to be called up to the Arsenal first-team, but that is mainly because he has spent a lot of time on loan, taking in spells at Lincoln City and Rotherham United prior to heading to Coventry.

Whether he will receive an opportunity to break into the senior setup at Arsenal remains to be seen, but Norton-Cuffy has much to focus on in the meantime.

Good luck lad.

Wonderful experience to have at such an early stage in his career.

Heavenly Chapecoense

Both White and Tomiyasu are still young, 25 and 24. Will Norton-Cuffy have his chance?

I’ve not seen much of him, but since he is playing wing-back i want to know how good he is going forward. Could he be more of a Saka back up than Ben White back up? How is his decision making in the final 3rd? The small amount i have seen gave me Nuno Taveres type vibes. Some significant tallent is there, but end product wayward.

Another year on loan might be the answer here.

Argentina, not Indonesia. Politicians got involved

Another loan might be preferable to both parties at the moment (three if you count Coventry)

In the meantime, Arsenal need back up for White and a good but regrettably injury-prone Tommi.

Another top quality Right Back and, if Tierney goes, a replacement top quality Left Back will be required to be added to the summer shopping list.

If Coventry get promoted, whilst it would unfortunately mean a happy Richard Keys dancing in the street in Qatar, it at least opens the door for BNC to get his first year in the Premier League. It’ll be interesting to see what we do at RB if Tomiyasu doesn’t make the start of the season. We may just kick the can down the road with White. Walters as backup looks a prospect but still very young. Could we sign a new right-back and shift the use of White towards CB rotating with Saliba. We should be aiming for a 60… Read more »
