Arsenal Women will open the WSL season with a home game against Liverpool to be held at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 1 October at 2pm. That’s one of the five WSL home games to be held at the club’s main stadium.
The following home game against Aston Villa, currently scheduled for 15 October, will also be played in N5. Then the 10 December clash with Chelsea, which has been held at the Emirates for the last two seasons now, follows.
Manchester United come to town on February 18 and the Gunners will hope for better fortune than last season’s clash with United at the Emirates that saw them concede a stoppage time winner to Alessia Russo, who left United to join Arsenal this summer.
Finally, the North London derby will again be held at the Emirates on 3 March. Arsenal kick off their season in earnest with a Champions League qualifier away at Linkoping in Sweden on 5 September. If Arsenal get through their respective qualifying rounds, they will play all of their Champions League games at Emirates Stadium too.

Interesting that the Liverpool match was favoured above Man City to host at the Emirates. Presumably this is down to logistics rather than how we view the respective opposition?
I guess having the season opener at the Emirates makes sense. With Man City though, the men’s team are away the weekend AWFC are due to play Man City at Meadow Park, and the UWCL group stage doesn’t start till 14/15 November. Also notable that Ch*ls*a haven’t selected Man City for a Stamford Bridge game. So… is this about not wanting to give too much width to Hemp & Kelly?
That sounds like a cunning plan!
I would expect that sort of thing from Chelsea so perhaps we are catching on!
From what I’m able to find, King’s Meadow and Meadow Park are as wide or wider than Stamford Bridge and Emirates.
Emirates 114.8 x 74.4
Stamford Bridge 113 x 74
Meadow Park 110 x 77
Kings Meadow 110 x 75
Units in Yards according to Wikipedia
I can not confirm these numbers though..
Perhaps it depends how the pitch is measured? The Emirates gives two sizes one for the grass area and another for the actual playing surface. The FA recommends a pitch size of 110 x 70 yards so it seems strange that lower league / training pitches would be significantly larger. Maybe the 77 yard width of Meadow Park is the overall grass width but the distance between the touchlines could be a fair bit less. Who knows? Let’s just beat City anyway wherever we play the game!
I see your point.
Could just be about playing games at the big stadium as close as possible after the WC to ride the wave and maximise gates.
Haha what are we supposed to do in such matches?
Do we know yet if the NLD away game will be played on a football pitch?
