Arsenal will face West Ham in the Carabao Cup 4th Round after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The tie will be played week in the week commencing 30th October sandwiched between a home game against Sheffield United and a trip to Newcastle.
It’s over 30 years since the Gunners last won the League Cup. It would be nice to end that drought on the way to the quadruple.
Carabao Cup 4th Round Draw
Mansfield vs Port Vale
Ipswich Town vs Fulham
Manchester United vs Newcastle United
Bournemouth vs Liverpool
Chelsea vs Blackburn Rovers
West Ham United vs Arsenal
Everton vs Burnley
Exeter vs Middlesbrough
So much for an easier 4th round…
at least neither will Utd or Liverpool… might become a not too difficult path to a trophy should we make it past this next round
Let me guess, Manchester united have a home draw?
It’s their 12th consecutive one!
Do we literally get a premier league team every round of every cup competition?! What happened to the old days of playing teams like Sutton where Lucas Perez scores a brace and that goalkeeper eats a pie? 😭
Or Wrexham 😫😫😫
I still remember the dogs abuse I got at school after that result.
Yeah, the same period Liverpool bought Rob Jones from Crewe, after facing them
It was a pastie
Really?! Man u and Chelsea get to play at home again?!
On a serious note, I wanted to play a team outside of the PL but then, I realised those games can be tricky, cuz these sides give it all usually! With West ham, it’s the devil you know better…
You’re mentioning Chelsea as if they still matter
Well Sky have to get their regularly scheduled televised United cup game in every round don’t they, just a pain in the arse that it’s yet another Newcastle game that’ll be on the telly at the same time
As a spectator I don’t give a fish’s tit about this competition. I used to enjoy it in the AW era when he’d just give loads of young players a chance
Shit draw. Away to another PL side.
I hope Arteta goes strong for this one… but I get he won’t
Nah, before a trip to Newcastle you got to be wrapping everyone in cotton wool .
That is of anyone’s left standing what with all injuries we have now, West Am away ideal game for Nelsen and ESR
It’s good for us because Newcastle will be going for this tournament and will have to play full strength Vs United
So finally, Arteta out ? Or we wait
West ham will be rotating what witg having Europe to contend with also. On that basis probably easier thrn Brentford.
Now Man City are out i hope we have a tilt at this.
They should just make this a cup for lower leagues plus teams not in European competitions. Would give the minnows like s***s and Chelsea at shot at a title.
Alternatively, let the 6 teams in Europe competitions play but only with academy kids. There would at least be value for the top 6 teams in getting their kids competitive game time.
Spurs, Man City and Brighton already out. One of Man Utd and Newcastle sure to go out in the next round. At least 2 EFL teams in the last 8. I know West Ham away is not the easiest draw in the last 16, but it’s not the hardest either. This trophy is quite winnable this year.
