Mikel Arteta has expressed his satisfaction at the performances of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jorginho and played down talk that either player could be set for an imminent departure.
Rumours circled during the Interlull about the future of both players with reports in Germany claiming Tomiyasu had been the subject of interest from Bayern Munich last summer while Jorginho’s agent claimed contract talks with the Gunners were at a “standstill’.
“I really want him to stay,” said the Spaniard when asked about Tomiyasu ahead of Arsenal’s match with Brentford.
“I value the player a lot. I really like him. I think he’s loved and respected by everybody at the club. He’s getting a lot of minutes now. He’s getting his availability to the level that we need for him to make an impact in the team and he will continue to be with us.”
❗️Excl. News #Tomiyasu: As revealed yesterday FC Bayern was extremely pushing for the 25 y/o in summer. Main reason: Versatile player who can play at centre-back and right/left-back. #arsenal

Tomiyasu is under contract at the Emirates until 2025 and the club have an option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
The Gunners can do the same with Jorginho although a decision on whether to do that with the Italy international is more pressing; his current contract ends in the summer.
“I feel I still have things to do at Arsenal,” was Jorginho’s take while on international duty.
On Friday, his manager said: “I’m really happy. I don’t discuss these things [contracts] here but I’m really happy with Jorgi, I think we all are. I think he contributes to make the team better and let’s see.
Pressed on when a decision might be made, he added: “That’s a question for Edu, for the board, for somebody else.”
Wouldn’t let go off Tomi even for 100m. Bayern can go screw themselves. He’s a gem and we are happy with Tomi.
Perhaps finally we’re in a place where we can just say “No thanks, we don’t need the money”. Tomi is an absolute monster, and a crucial part of our team.
I know… and isn’t it great!
For 100m I might consider it, to be fair.
100 mil for a fairly injury prone rb wouldn’t be terrible business
These days £100m will only get you a shitty instagram winger who has to pretend crosses are shots to pads his stats.
I’ll stick with Tomi.
Well said, Brutha Chapeau!
For 100M, we should offer them the politician and keep Tomi.
“As revealed yesterday FC Bayern was extremely pushing for the 25 y/o in summer”
Bayern “We Own The Bundesliga Because We Buy All The Other Teams Good Players” Munich are welcome to extremely push off.
Yep… fuck ’em.
And, in case you didn’t get that… fuck ’em!
Aye, they can push off all the way to the land of Fuck Off and when they arrive they can fuck off some more.
Fast, aggressive, tall , works hard, well liked, able to play various positions….What else can you ask of a player. It will be a shame letting a player like that go.
