Arsenal will face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round in a mouthwatering tie that will be played at Emirates Stadium on the first weekend of January.
The Gunners haven’t faced the Reds in the competition since 2014 when we beat them 2-1 thanks to goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski.
While we’re the most successful club in the competition with 14 titles to our name, Mikel Arteta hasn’t made it past the fourth round in the last three years, losing 1-0 to Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Southampton in recent years.
While the competition ranks behind the Premier League and Champions League in importance, Mikel Arteta knows it represents a decent shot at silverware and will be pushing his squad to take it seriously.
Given the draw, there’s no other way.

Someone really wants to enjoy Arsenal beat Liverpool every month from December to February. I guess we have to beat them 3 times in a row then. I don’t want anyone to convince me that it can’t be done because the current winning streak will only end after the UCL final.

Could of done without this draw, a game v the smaller teams would of been better and not having to play our 1st team, when we got drawn out early 1st i thought there is a lot of teams left, is what it is i suppose..
All the better that we didnt have that additional fixture against them at their turf in the other less important cup.

I know how the draw works. It’s just our bad luck to fking get Liverpool right away. This is a 50-50 game for us now moving to the next round. If we don’t win this game the likes of Ramsdale, Nelson, Kiwior, ESR and other players on the bench won’t get much game time. It would have been nice to get a couple of championship teams till the quarter finals.

Chelsea vs Tottenham, Liverpool vs Newcastle, Man Utd vs Man City, Villa vs Brighton, Arsenal vs Ramsgate would have been a perfect draw for this round.

Well that’s a frustrating draw but it is what it is.
It’s the last game before our two week Premier League winter break so Mikel could opt to field a near-full strength lineup.
Whilst Liverpool ‘may’ have a League Cup semi a few days after this match.
If this finishes a draw, the replay would cut into our winter break. Wasn’t there something about the players going to Dubai during those two weeks.
We should look forward to this – the players will!
