Arsenal set to tour the USA ahead of 24/25 campaign

Arsenal are planning to tour the USA again next summer as part of their pre-season preparations for the 2024/25 campaign.

While opponents, venues and the timing of friendlies are unclear at this stage, it’s thought the club will play another match at the KSE-owned SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. On a very dodgy pitch, the Gunners beat Barcelona 5-3 at the venue last summer and are keen to consolidate their standing amongst local soccer fans.

With the 2024 Copa America (hosted by the US) and EURO 2024 both ending on 14 July, and the 24/25 Premier League campaign kicking off on 17 August, we’re hazarding a guess that the Gunners will arrange US friendlies for the final week of July and the start of August; slightly later than last year.

Clearly, the USA is a very lucrative market for English clubs – nine Premier League sides visited in July – and with Lionel Messi plying his trade in the MLS, it makes sense to take advantage of any halo-effect post-Copa America. We’ll also get to flog some gear, so hopefully the club come up with some better kits!

Last summer, CEO Vinai Venkatesham, explained to Bloomberg’s ‘Surveillance’ show why the Gunners enjoy visiting the USA.

He said: “The US has become our number one international market and we see that anecdotally. Every time we come to the US, we come every couple of years, we can see the game is growing and we can see Arsenal’s popularity is growing. And we also see it in the numbers.

“Last season on NBC Sports we had a record audience for Arsenal versus Manchester United, we see our social media following growing really fast, 20 per cent of our retail business is in the US and we played the MLS All-Star game in Washington jam-packed and jam-packed full of Arsenal fans, which was great to see.”

Since then, Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield in December set a new NBC viewership record with 1.96 million tuning in.

As soon as we get further details of the US tour, we’ll let you know.

Phew. Vibes are baaaaaad right now.

Come on people. I know the last few weeks have sucked. But let’s get some positive energy back.

Being a fan isn’t about watching your team ascend to glory without struggle. Arteta said we need to suffer together.

We haven’t even won anything yet and I think some fans are acting a bit spoiled.

We would’ve killed for this league position just 2 years ago.

Fuck the haters. COYG!!!

GoonerJust

The club makes some fortunes playing stateside. Asia is not profitable I guess.

Lorenzo

at $300 a ticket, I’m surprised they don’t visit 2x a year.

Just a matter of time before teams start playing annual EPL fixtures in NYC or LA…

frankoreedo

which comes first, PL games in the US or CL final in saudi arabia?

mc1892

We already had the Europa final in Baku so think we’re already there on that one!

Jim

My ticket in NYC for Arsenal v MU was under $100, hopefully you can find one similarly priced if you go to a match

The best way for KSE to make money is by winning titles.

I traveled to Baltimore to watch Arsenal v Everton and my ticket + hotel (1 night) combined were just under $300

Wishawk

My ticket to the game against West Ham at Emirates was £56 and the airline ticket from Chicago was $1000 plus 3 nights hotel in London. I can appreciate Arsenal for taking the USA trips.

How about focusing more on the decline of the team in the EPL, I would be more concerned about how are we going to tattle and try to remedy the situation.

Goonerrific

You know the club is made up of more than one employee right? Or you want the commercial team to lead shooting practice?

A Different George

Maybe he’s not talking about the club, but this blog. Every post about anything except the team’s decline is a missed opportunity for reasoned comments about how we could sell Nketiah for 40 million (lol) in order to buy Victor Osinhem, whose release clause is said to be over 120 million (wept quietly). Also: Raya is too short, Zinchenko is a liability, Arteta has no Plan B, Jorginho came from Chelsea, and why can’t we wear our home kit when we play away when there is no clash? (That last one is for real–I usually raise it once a year,… Read more »

You could start your own blog and talk about whatever you want. 🤷‍♂️

Goonerrific

Oh, you’re actually serious? Hahah

A Different George

Only about the kits. The hill on which I will, if not die, at least whine.

You lost me at reasoned comments on this site.

The team’s decline…? Yeah, we’re currently in a blip, but the last time I looked at the bigger picture, Arsenal are back in the Champions League, topped our group stage and into the last 16. After leading the table for the majority of last season, we are once again in the mix for the Premiership title. (We’re a few points behind Liverpool, still to play them at the Emirates and it’s January, not May; whether anyone likes it or not, we’re still in this season’s title race), we’re still in the FA Cup and have some of the best talent… Read more »
