Jesus: I think I’m doing good

Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock and then assisted Bukayo Saka as Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool to two points.

The Brazilian’s solid performance earned him the man of the match award from TNT Sports.

Here’s what he said in his post-game interview; it was short and sweet.

On what Mikel Arteta said at half time…

First of all, to keep trying. I think in the first half we did so good. Unfortunately, we didn’t score, but we were there, controlling the game. The best way to control them is keeping the ball there, in the [final] third part of the pitch. I think we did well in the first half but we didn’t score, but we keep doing the same for the second half and then we score, so we control more the game obviously, but we score and that’s all.

On his relationship with the fans…

I think it’s all about trust. I arrived in the club with patience and a desire to improve and help them. I think I’m doing good. Unfortunately, I have had some injuries that I don’t want. I think no one player wants this. And then my knee again, I got kicked in the training and then some problems again. So I’m working hard, I’m doing everything to be on the pitch because I think I can help more on the pitch than outside. And also the support of my teammates is good. Today, unfortunately, I was a little bit unlucky with one chance, another one I created and then after I could score. So yeah, I’m happy and then obviously they keep supporting me, that’s good for the players.

Clock Ender

We are a better team with him than without him, no doubt.

Jesus of Sao Paulo

Miracle worker.

Here lies the problem “I think in the first half we did so good”. And “The best way to control them is keeping the ball there, in the [final] third part of the pitch”. The first half wasn’t great, still very slow and predictable and a lot of forcing but these quotes seem to reflect the manager is happy with this type of play. Winning 2-1 against a bottom half team happens isn’t convincing, it would be one thing if this was a one off but these are the types of performances we have been seeing all season!

A Different George

“Very slow and predictable.” It’s amazing what a well-drilled Premier League defense can do to limit your creativity by merely putting 9 men behind the ball.

Right no football team has ever looked good against 9 men behind the ball..totally new concept that no knew has ever encountered before. Guess we should be happy with below par performances?

Santi’s Phonebox

Second in the league. Playing for first this weekend. Best defense in the league. Best set play team in the league. One of the youngest teams and inexperienced manager in the league. Yeah I’m real happy being competitive again. You are making a choice to be negative.

100%, well put. It’s amazing how people expect us to win 5-0 each game playing super sexy dominant football every single time.
Last night was a great result and was always comfortable (until the last 5 minutes) But not long ago it would be Mustafi and Kolasnic defending that lead. We have come a very long way, people. Let’s be humble and enjoy the good times.

Jesus saves, Agent Turner on the hooch. Our best sale of the season.
Bring on Liverpool. hopefully with Chelski kicking the crap out of them … either way we r still in the race esp with win on Sunday via Jesus hat trick.

Cobwebs

Good positive attitude.

Yes Jesus, you are doing good 👍
It’s a miracle you aren’t scoring more but that’ll come.
