This Saturday’s crunch WSL game between Arsenal and Manchester United Women at Emirates Stadium has sold out. It marks the first occasion where Arsenal Women have sold out Emirates Stadium for a league fixture, having also sold it out for last season’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Wolfsburg.
The club fell just a few hundred tickets short of selling the stadium out for December’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea. Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal Chief Executive, said: “We are grateful for the incredible support we’ve had all season. Our supporters’ unwavering commitment and following, coupled with the performance of our team and the hard work of everyone behind the scenes at our club, has made this moment possible.
“The next step is delivering this on a consistent basis – not just at Emirates Stadium but across the league. We must continue to nurture this audience and deliver sustainable growth for the whole women’s game.”
Arsenal will also welcome Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium on March 3. Tickets and hospitality packages are still available to purchase on the website.
The club also recently announced an extra WSL match will take place at Emirates this season, with the game against Leicester City on April 21* moving from Meadow Park.
The game against United is a big one for both clubs, Arsenal currently sit 3rd in the WSL- the final UWCL qualification spot- and United are four points behind in fourth. A victory will go a long way to ensuring UWCL qualification as a minimum from the league campaign. Chelsea and Manchester City play one another on Friday evening so there will also be an opportunity to close the gap to one or both of those teams come kickoff on Saturday.

There were 5 tickets left, all Club Level, while I was listening to the podcast earlier. Tottenham isn’t far behind and Leicester looks healthy too. So get your tickets quickly, folks! I swear, if we lived in an alternative universe in which we could have afforded to hang on to Highbury as a football stadium as well as pay for the move to the Emirates, our women’s team would fill that place every home game – whether in the WSL the UWCL or FA Cup. With minimal marketing. Perhaps a midweek Conti Cup game against a club like LCL would… Read more »
Feels like reporters haven’t been saying the turnstile count number this season. Chelsea at home seemed all sold out areas were 80-90% full
Good for them!
Us!
So proud of our club. Absolutely a front runner in women’s football, not just on the pitch, but everything around it. Some people may not rate this highly, but in 10 or 20 years, we’re one of the places where it all started and erupted. Recently the danish supporters club’s podcast had a 1½ hour special on the womens team (not for the first time) – and this just wouldn’t have happened just a few years ago. This is all part of expanding our reach, and our status around the world, and only good things will come of it. Countless girls… Read more »
If we knew all the turnstile count numbers I’m sure the ManU game would still be the record WSL attendance but with a number we could break in the future. It felt like 57000-58000 in the stadium
Are the club refusing to give out the turnstile counts this season ?
People are putting together top 10 lists for WSL games attendances and have turnstile counts for all prevoius seasons but this seasons emirates numbers are not turnstile counts
