Cozier-Duberry looking to finish season strongly ahead of deciding future

Amario Cozier-Duberry was named the Premier League 2 player of the month for April and the award was fully deserved following his impressive performances for Arsenal U21s.

There have been some challenging moments for the talented winger at times this season as he has often been given greater attention by opposing defenders having been identified as one of the key threats in the side.

However, of late Cozier-Duberry appears to have been playing with much more freedom again and he has proceeded to score six goals in his last five appearances for the U21s.

Arsenal U21s host Chelsea today in the quarter-finals of the Premier League 2 playoffs and it seems likely that Cozier-Duberry will have an important part to play if Mehmet Ali’s side are to make it through to the last four.

Much of the talk regarding Cozier-Duberry of late has been about his future, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season with his Arsenal contract set to expire at the end of next month.

If Arsenal were to lose Cozier-Duberry then it would be frustrating but he is at a stage now where he needs to step up to senior football of some description.

A loan move could be the best way to do that if he signs a new contract, but whatever transpires it is time for Cozier-Duberry to move on from U21 football after making a major impact at that level over the last couple of years.

It will be interesting to see how the England youth international will adapt to senior football, where he will be afforded less time to make decisions.

Given his ability, however, Cozier-Duberry will surely relish the challenge of senior football, wherever he is playing.
