Leah Williamson Signs New Arsenal Contract

Arsenal defender Leah Williamson has signed a new contract with the club. The 27-year-old came through the Gunners academy, winning a WSL title, two FA Cups and four Conti Cups. She also captained England to winning Euro 2022.

Williamson returned from an ACL injury during the middle of last season and has opted to extend her stay with her childhood club. “Everyone knows what Arsenal means to me, but I think every time I sign a new contract, I feel that love ignite all over again,” said Leah. “I’m very happy to be staying – this is a place where I can still continue to grow, develop and be challenged. As a group, we’re all very focused on bringing more silverware to this club and I can’t wait to get started again when the new season comes around.”

Head Coach Jonas Eidevall added: “Leah is an essential part of our team so we’re delighted she has signed a new contract with us. She brings us so much on and off the pitch – leadership, accountability and commitment. Leah has a special bond with Arsenal and I’m looking forward to continuing to work together to bring more success to this great club.”

Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Leah’s connection with Arsenal runs so deep – I can remember her as a girl in our academy many years ago, and I’m so proud of the determined, passionate woman she has become. We’re thrilled that Leah has signed a new deal here and I know our supporters will join me in congratulating her today.”

Fun Gunner

Lovely! Great stuff, Leah Williamson.

Good news indeed!
Also signals positive vibes re the club as whole moving forward. Despite her love for Arsenal, Leah wouldn’t have stayed if she didn’t believe they could challenge for the top honours. She’s a winner.
Looks like contract was signed same day as Stina’s😉. Hopefully we’ll get more positive news soon on contracts, new signings.

A class individual and a key leader. Very important signing

A professional at the very top of the tree. She is an exemplary role model on and off the pitch. It was hardly in doubt that she would sign but it is the best news that she has. Glad they did not think that the club was better off without her like other players.

Leah has a very strong personality, the renewal shows that she is confident that something bigger is coming for the club and for the athletes, investments are being made, the club is focused on winning titles.

Great news…probably the key signing/renewal of the year.

when was her old one ending?

Such an important player and Leah is indeed a class player. Sends a very strong signal for the club and its reputation throughout Europe.

The importance of keeping Leah cannot be understated but remain concerned about how we replace the WSL’s greatest striker.
